Is the 2024 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2024 Subaru Forester. It stands out as a compact SUV that leans hard into practicality, visibility, and all-weather confidence, with standard symmetrical all-wheel drive, a spacious interior, and a large cargo area. For you, that means it is especially well suited to everyday family use, winter driving, and buyers who value straightforward usefulness over flash. The market also shows 27.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Subaru Forester is described as a dependable family vehicle with a reputation for long-term reliability, and its focus on practicality and all-weather confidence supports that image. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about accepting a powertrain and driving character that prioritise utility over excitement.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Forester?

It is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 348 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,511 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $34,613 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,056 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim rather than broad market momentum. The Forester's practical reputation should help keep demand steady, especially among shoppers who want a dependable all-weather SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,805 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,613 CAD average.
• It emphasises everyday usefulness with standard all-wheel drive and a roomy cabin.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $37,923 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,613 CAD average.
• It adds more advanced tech, a quieter cabin, and a better-equipped base model.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and current-market value, the 2024 is the primary choice. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer refinement and are willing to pay more.
