Is the 2021 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Subaru Ascent earns a 5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a practical three-row SUV. The overview points to a spacious interior, seven- or eight-passenger seating, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety credentials, all of which make it a sensible fit for family use. Is the 2021 Subaru Ascent reliable?

The overview emphasises Subaru’s strong safety reputation, standard all-wheel drive, and a practical family-focused design, all of which point to a vehicle built around dependable everyday use. Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 124 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,067 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $27,067 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,608 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also suggests future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays soft. The Ascent’s practical three-row layout and standard all-wheel drive should help it remain appealing to family buyers. Still, resale value will depend on how well the vehicle is equipped, maintained, and positioned against other used SUVs in the segment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2021 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $30,248 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $27,067 CAD average.
• It adds an Onyx Edition with blacked-out trim and water-resistant upholstery.

The bottom line: Choose the 2021 if you want the better value and are focused on price, inventory, and proven family utility. Consider the 2022 if you want the newer trim addition and are willing to pay more for it.
