How much does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 13.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 577 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth ride, impressive power, off-road capability, and luxury feel. That lines up well with the model’s use case as a familiar two-row SUV for shoppers who want the older Grand Cherokee formula rather than the newer redesign. The main trade-offs are the lack of some tech features for the price and weaker fuel economy.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with owners repeatedly highlighting the SUV’s long-term appeal, strong capability, and overall satisfaction. The expert review also describes it as a terrific all-arounder and a goodie despite its age.

Jeep dealerships offer regular rebates and incentives, which can help offset ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and dated technology may matter more as the kilometres add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from the affordable Laredo and Limited to the upscale Overland and Summit, with Trailhawk for serious off-roading and SRT and Trackhawk for high-performance buyers. Base trims are more value-focused, while higher trims add a more premium look and feel.
• Powertrain: The standard 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 makes 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, while the optional 5.7-litre Hemi V8 makes 360 hp and 390 lb-ft. The V8 adds stronger towing and more urgency, but it also uses more fuel.
• Safety package: Jeep’s ProTech II Package includes adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam headlights. Some safety features depend on trim and equipment.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 4C with Nav includes navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. It also supports SiriusXM services and remote features through SiriusXM Guardian.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 is rated at no better than 14.1 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the test vehicle returned 12.9 L/100 km on a mixed route.

Which 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 8 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Altitude, 80th Anniversary Edition, Overland, Summit, Trailhawk, SRT, and Trackhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core space, ride quality, and capability without paying for the more luxurious trims. It makes the most sense if you value the nameplate and want to keep your budget in check.
• Limited: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel while staying below the premium trims. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• Altitude: This trim is aimed at buyers who want a more distinctive look without jumping all the way to the luxury end of the range. It is a good fit if style matters as much as the standard Grand Cherokee formula.
• 80th Anniversary Edition: This version is for shoppers who want commemorative styling and a more special-feeling package. It suits you if you like the Grand Cherokee’s character and want something a little more distinctive.
• Overland: This is the step up for buyers who want a more premium experience and a richer cabin. It is a strong choice if you want more luxury without going all the way to Summit.
• Summit: This is the most luxurious mainstream choice in the lineup, with the plushest presentation and the most upscale feel. It is best if you want the Grand Cherokee to lean hardest into luxury.
• Trailhawk: This is the one to buy if off-road ability is your priority. It is the trim that best matches the Grand Cherokee’s rugged reputation.
• SRT: This is the performance-focused choice for buyers who want a much more aggressive driving character. It suits you if straight-line speed and sporty intent matter most.
• Trackhawk: This is the extreme performance model, with the 6.2-litre supercharged V8. It is the pick for buyers who want the most powerful and most dramatic Grand Cherokee experience.

For safety, note that the Summit test vehicle came with the ProTech II Package, which bundles the full suite of driver-assistance features listed above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should have room to compare listings and negotiate.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 577 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.84% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,091 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $29,115 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,791 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays soft. The Grand Cherokee’s broad appeal, strong owner satisfaction, and reputation for capability should still support demand. Even so, buyers will likely remain selective about condition, equipment, and mileage.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA with 4WD, but IIHS gives it Marginal protection for the driver and Poor protection for the front passenger in small-overlap frontal testing, and its headlights also rate Poor unless you upgrade to the high-intensity discharge units with automatic high-beam assist.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep’s ProTech II Package adds adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam headlights. The Summit test vehicle had all of these features, and Jeep also includes a backup camera with guidance lines, parking sensors, and ParkSense parking assistance.

The main safety caveat is the weak IIHS crash performance, which is the biggest reason to shop carefully if safety is your top priority.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is the final version of the current-generation two-row Grand Cherokee before the redesign.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,502 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $29,115 CAD average.
• It offers broad appeal with strong style and off-road capability.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,408 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $29,115 CAD average.
• It brings a redesigned package with a major technology and sophistication upgrade.

The bottom line: If you want the familiar two-row Grand Cherokee formula and a softer used price, the 2021 is the sensible pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value path; if you want the newest tech and redesign, move up to the 2022.
