Used 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 15.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 593 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, performance, and luxurious features, and many also appreciate the powerful engines and ride quality. The Grand Cherokee’s stylish design and off-road capability are recurring strengths, too.

The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, and value for money is weak relative to what you pay. Even so, if you want a two-row SUV that blends everyday usability with trail-ready capability, it still has broad appeal.

With 33.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as comfortable, performance-oriented, and luxurious, and the feedback points to a vehicle many people feel good about living with over time. The review summary also highlights powerful engines and ride quality, which supports the sense that it can be a dependable daily driver for the right buyer.

From an expert perspective, it’s a traditional SUV that behaves like one, with a powertrain and chassis setup that can handle both pavement and rougher terrain. That said, used buyers should still weigh age-related wear and the model’s mixed value proposition before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited X adds a more distinctive look with a ventilated hood, sport-themed front bumper, and 20-inch wheels, while higher trims bring more premium materials. Base versions are less richly equipped, and the safety content notes that the Premium Lighting Group with Acceptable HID headlights is standard in higher trim levels.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a 295-horsepower, 3.6-litre V6 with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The expert review also notes that V8 options are available if you want more power, while the Trailhawk is the most off-road capable version.
• Safety package: ProTech I is standard on all trim levels and includes a reversing camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. ProTech II adds low-speed forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights, while Advanced ProTech II adds full-speed forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, semi-autonomous parking assist, and rain-sensing wipers.
• Infotainment: In Limited X trim, Uconnect includes an 8.4-inch touchscreen, navigation, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM connected services. A 4G LTE WiFi data plan is available, and some versions can be equipped with a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The test SUV returned 11.3 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the test vehicle recorded 12.1 L/100 km.

Which 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 1 trim level: Laredo.

Here's the short version:

The Laredo is the only trim explicitly named in the data, so it’s the starting point for shoppers who want the Grand Cherokee’s core style and capability without moving up the range. If you’re shopping used, focus on condition, equipment, and whether the safety and infotainment features you want are included on the specific listing you’re considering.

The safety package starts with ProTech I on all trim levels, so check whether a given vehicle has the more advanced ProTech II or Advanced ProTech II equipment if those features matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 593 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.91% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,502 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $25,502 CAD sits slightly below last year's $30,325 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the model easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you purchase at the current average or below, you may have less room for appreciation unless the vehicle is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean.

Demand should still be supported by the Grand Cherokee’s strong reputation for style and capability. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, and IIHS gives it a Marginal rating for driver protection and a Poor rating for front passenger protection in the small overlap frontal-impact test.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep offers three collections of advanced driver-assistance systems. ProTech I is standard and includes a reversing camera, parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. ProTech II adds low-speed forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Advanced ProTech II adds full-speed forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, semi-autonomous parking assist, and rain-sensing wipers.

The weak crash-test results are the main caution here, especially if you’re comparing it with newer rivals that make more advanced safety equipment standard.

Should I buy a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains an appealing, if flawed, choice with strong style and off-road capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $29,115 CAD, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,502 CAD average.
• It is the final version before the redesign arrives.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2020 is the smarter buy because prices are lower and deals are more common. If you’d rather pay more for the last year of the old-generation formula, the 2021 is the cleaner choice for buyers who want the final version before the redesign.
