How much does the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.62/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, smooth ride, impressive power, and luxury feel. The review summary also points to strong off-road capability and advanced technology features, which fit a two-row SUV that still aims to cover daily driving, road trips, and rougher terrain. The overview frames it as the familiar Grand Cherokee formula rather than the newer, larger interpretation of the name.

That said, the market still reflects a selective buyer’s market, with 35.2% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a dependable-feeling SUV that many drivers are happy to live with over time, especially because of its spacious cabin, smooth ride, and strong all-around capability. It also suggests that buyers tend to count on its mix of comfort, power, and utility rather than treating it as a fragile or high-maintenance choice.

From the expert side, the Grand Cherokee is described as a terrific all-arounder with authentic capability and a real SUV character. Jeep also notes regular rebates and incentives, which can help offset ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and higher running costs can matter more here than in newer rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Laredo and Limited are the affordable trims, while the Overland and Summit move you toward a more upscale feel. The Trailhawk is the serious off-road choice, and the SRT and Trackhawk are the high-performance models. Base trims miss some of the richer materials and premium presentation that make the higher trims feel more special.
• Powertrain: You get a standard 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 with 295 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, plus an optional 5.7-litre Hemi V8 with 360 hp and 390 lb-ft. The V8 adds stronger towing and more character, but it also brings worse fuel consumption.
• Safety package: Jeep offers the ProTech II Package with adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam headlights. Some safety equipment depends on trim level, and the headlights can be a weak point without the right upgrade.
• Infotainment: The Uconnect 4C with Nav system includes navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. It is responsive and easy to use, and it also supports SiriusXM services and remote features through SiriusXM Guardian.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the V8 should return no better than 14.1 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the test vehicle recorded 12.9 L/100 km on a mixed route.

Which 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 6 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Trackhawk.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point if you want the Grand Cherokee formula at the lowest price, but you give up the richer luxury feel and many of the premium touches found higher up the range.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more comfort and equipment without pushing you into the pricier luxury end of the lineup.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if off-road use matters most, since it is the trim aimed at serious trail capability.
• Overland: This is the step up if you want a more upscale cabin and a stronger luxury impression without going all the way to Summit.
• Summit: This is the luxury pick, with premium materials, a more polished appearance, and the most upscale feel in the mainstream lineup.
• Trackhawk: This is the performance choice, built for buyers who want the most extreme power and the most aggressive character.

The safety package is strongest on higher trims, and the ProTech II Package adds a broad set of driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 546 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.50% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,648 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $29,676 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,914 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests sellers may need to be realistic when they list a used Grand Cherokee. If you plan to resell later, the current market shows that values have already moved down from a year ago, so timing and condition will matter.

The model’s broad appeal still helps, though. Buyers continue to respond to its mix of capability, comfort, and upscale character, which can support demand when the vehicle is well kept and properly equipped.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns five-star ratings from NHTSA with 4WD, but four-star ratings with 2WD because of a three-star rollover resistance rating. It also earns a Marginal driver rating and a Poor front-passenger rating in IIHS small-overlap frontal testing, and its headlights rate Poor unless you upgrade to the high-intensity discharge units with automatic high-beam assist.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep offers the ProTech II Package with adaptive cruise control with full stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high-beam headlights. The SUV also includes a backup camera with guidance lines, parking sensors, and ParkSense parking assistance for parallel and perpendicular spaces.

The main caution is clear: the crash-test results are a real weakness, so safety-conscious used buyers should pay close attention to trim and equipment.

Should I buy a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year keeps the familiar two-row Grand Cherokee formula while offering strong power, luxury feel, and off-road capability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $26,019 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $29,676 CAD average.
• It offers the familiar Grand Cherokee formula with strong capability and a long-running design.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $34,291 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $29,676 CAD average.
• It brings a redesigned Grand Cherokee with a major upgrade in technology and sophistication.

The bottom line: If you want the familiar two-row Grand Cherokee experience at a softer price, the 2021 is the sweet spot. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the value play; if you want the newer design and tech, the 2022 is the upgrade path.
