How much does the 2021 Hyundai Palisade cost?

Prices have softened 18.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 289 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Palisade a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Hyundai Palisade earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 9/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, abundant features, comfortable ride, elegant design, and high-tech capabilities. That lines up well with its role as a midsize, three-row SUV aimed at family use, while still feeling upscale enough to appeal if you want near-luxury polish without giving up practicality. With 29.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market also gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Palisade reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with repeated praise for its comfortable ride, spacious cabin, and feature-rich character. The expert evaluation also highlights a strong ownership proposition, including five-year, unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance and five-year, 100,000 km warranty coverage. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about core capability and more about whether the higher-priced trims and feature content justify the asking price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Hyundai Palisade?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Ultimate Calligraphy stands out with a different grille pattern, revised exterior lighting, additional lower body trim, unique 20-inch alloy wheels, upgraded interior detailing, and a simulated suede headliner. It also looks and feels more upscale than the other versions, while the cabin materials and presentation are a major step up over the lower trims.
• Powertrain: Every 2021 Palisade uses a 3.8-litre V6 with 291 horsepower, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and standard all-wheel drive in Canada. It is tuned for quiet, confident everyday driving rather than outright sportiness.
• Safety package: Every Palisade includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, multiple lane-keeping systems, and a rear occupant alert system. Most trims add active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning, while Luxury and Ultimate Calligraphy trims add a Blind View Monitor.
• Infotainment: You can get either an 8-inch or 10.25-inch touchscreen. Both support dual Bluetooth pairing, but only the 8-inch system gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; the larger screen still needs a wired connection. Higher trims add navigation, Blue Link connected services, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada predicts 11.1 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle matched that figure on the review loop.

Which 2021 Hyundai Palisade trim should I buy?

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade is offered in 4 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Luxury, and Ultimate Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Palisade’s core space, comfort, and safety without paying for the luxury extras. It still gets the standard safety suite and the same V6 powertrain, but you give up the richer cabin presentation and premium convenience features found higher up.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more of the equipment that makes the Palisade feel upscale without pushing into the highest price territory. If you want a balanced mix of comfort, technology, and value, this is the trim to focus on.
• Luxury: This trim is for you if you want a more premium-feeling cabin and the added safety convenience of the Blind View Monitor. It is a stronger fit if you care about the Palisade’s upscale side more than keeping the purchase price down.
• Ultimate Calligraphy: This is the most luxurious version, with the most distinctive styling and the richest interior treatment. Choose it if you want the Palisade to feel as close to a near-luxury SUV as possible.

Luxury and Ultimate Calligraphy trims include the Blind View Monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Hyundai Palisade?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 289 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.76% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,246 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Hyundai Palisade's resale value?

The current average of $27,246 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,539 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Palisade more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, trim, and equipment level than it would be in a stronger pricing environment. Well-equipped versions with strong feature content should still draw interest, but you may need to price competitively if you want a quick sale.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Hyundai Palisade safe?

The 2021 Hyundai Palisade earns top safety ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Palisade includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, multiple lane-keeping systems, and a rear occupant alert system. Most trims also add active blind-spot and rear cross-traffic warning, plus Safe Exit Assist. Luxury and Ultimate Calligraphy trims get a Blind View Monitor, and Highway Driving Assist is a standout feature because it combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assistance, though it is not designed for hands-free driving.

Should I buy a 2021 Hyundai Palisade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds more standard equipment, expanded infotainment capabilities, and a new luxury-themed trim level.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,105 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $27,246 CAD average.
• It adds direct gasoline injection and keeps standard all-wheel drive in Canada.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2021 is the smarter buy because pricing has eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2022 is the cleaner alternative for buyers who want the latest version and do not mind paying a premium.
