Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Ridgeline earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, ride quality, spacious interior, and innovative truck bed and cargo space. The overview also points to a pickup that blends truck utility with everyday usability, especially if you want a more traditional-looking truck without giving up a smooth, practical driving experience.

Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline reliable?

Honda’s standard maintenance coverage can help reduce early ownership friction, and that can be a useful perk if you’re comparing used examples. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is finding a truck that was not maintained carefully or that lacks the safety features you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport trim is the most basic version, and it stands out for cloth seats and a simpler cabin. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best value.
• Powertrain: Every Ridgeline uses a 280-horsepower V6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard torque-vectoring all-wheel drive. It is smooth and refined, but it is not built for serious rock-crawling.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centring assistance. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and a seven-speaker sound system. Higher trims add SiriusXM satellite radio, HD Radio, navigation, voice recognition, traffic information, and a premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2021 Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Ridgeline is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it still gives you the core Ridgeline experience: V6 power, standard all-wheel drive, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, and Honda Sensing. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model and can live without the extra comfort and tech upgrades.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim if you want a more complete daily driver. It builds on the Sport with more convenience and a more upscale feel, making it the trim most shoppers should start with.
• Touring: Choose this if you want a more premium cabin and added tech. It adds features such as navigation, traffic information, and a premium sound system.
• Black Edition: This is the most distinctive and upscale version, aimed at buyers who want the most fully equipped Ridgeline with the strongest visual presence.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Ridgeline?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 74 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.79% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,579 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline's resale value?

The current average of $37,547 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,720 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The Ridgeline’s strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Ridgeline safe?

The 2021 Honda Ridgeline earns a Marginal rating in the IIHS small overlap front: passenger side crash test.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and lane-centring assistance. The truck also includes a multi-angle reversing camera and automatic high-beam headlights. A key caveat is that blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning is not offered in Canada, and the adaptive cruise system can react too aggressively in some situations.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Ridgeline or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a more truck-like look while keeping the Ridgeline’s comfort and practicality.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $40,508 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $37,547 CAD average.
• It carries over essentially unchanged after the 2021 facelift.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2021 if you want the better value and the refreshed styling without paying more for a near-identical truck. If you are price-sensitive, the 2021 is the smarter buy; if you simply want the newest available example and do not mind paying more, the 2022 is the alternative.
