How much does the 2021 Honda CR-V cost?

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda CR-V earns a 4.79/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the safety features, the spacious and comfortable interior, and the excellent fuel economy. That lines up well with the CR-V’s role as a practical compact SUV for everyday Canadian use, especially if you want something easy to live with rather than flashy.

With 28.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you may find decent value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.79/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to the CR-V as reliable and highly rated, with many owners describing it as a vehicle they can count on over the long term. The expert assessment reinforces that dependable, easy-to-live-with character, even if the CR-V is more about balance than standout excitement.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a well-used example may show the usual wear from family duty, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-back version, and it misses some equipment that appears higher up the range. In particular, the blind spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert is not on the lowest trim.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the same 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and a CVT. It is tuned for smooth, steady acceleration rather than quick passing power.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard across the range and includes a multi-angle rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto high-beam headlamps. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on Sport and above.
• Infotainment: Every CR-V gets a 7-inch high-definition touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SMS text messaging functions. Higher trims add more audio features, and Touring and Black Edition are the only trims with satellite navigation and voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD model is rated at 8.3 L/100 km city, 7.0 highway, and 7.7 combined. AWD models are rated at 8.7 L/100 km city, 7.4 highway, and 8.1 combined.

Which 2021 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda CR-V is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is the most basic version and misses blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It makes sense only if you are focused on keeping the purchase price down.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the blind spot monitoring system and keeps the CR-V’s core strengths intact without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• EX: This trim builds on the Sport with more comfort and convenience equipment, making it a sensible middle ground if you want a better-equipped daily driver.
• EX-L: This is the more upscale choice if you want a richer cabin and more premium-feeling features without going all the way to the top trim.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, adding the most advanced tech and convenience features, including the wireless phone charger and navigation.

The safety package is standard across the range, but the blind spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert starts on the Sport trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 735 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.72% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,859 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $25,859 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,626 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you are buying now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations. If prices stay near current levels, resale values should remain stable rather than strong.

The CR-V’s broad appeal helps support demand, especially because many shoppers value its practicality, safety, and comfort. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.79/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2021 Honda CR-V earned a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS. It also earned Good ratings in the original side crash test, but only Acceptable for LATCH ease of use, and it did not reach Top Safety Pick+ because of lower headlight and updated side crash test results.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim and includes a multi-angle rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto high-beam headlamps. The only safety feature not on the base LX is blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, which becomes standard on Sport and stays standard above that.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.79/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert view for this year centres on broad appeal, strong safety, and a proven formula.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,245 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $25,859 CAD average.
• It is a familiar, comfortable, and capable crossover with strong handling.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better pick if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and safety. If you are mainly chasing the lowest entry cost, the 2020 is worth a look, especially if you find a clean example with the right equipment.
