How much does the 2021 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 13.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 745 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda CR-V earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the safety features, spacious and comfortable interior, and excellent fuel economy. It also fits well if you want a compact SUV that is easy to understand, broadly popular, and practical for everyday use.

The market also shows 27.7% of listings are good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle many owners find reliable, highly rated, and easy to count on over time. The expert assessment also frames the CR-V as a familiar, well-sorted crossover with a long-running formula that has been refined over many years.

Honda’s standard safety and efficiency focus helps support confidence in day-to-day ownership, but used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and signs of hard use, especially on higher-mileage examples.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda CR-V?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-down version, and it misses some convenience and safety equipment that appears higher up the range. If you want a more complete feature set, look beyond the entry trim.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the same 1.5-litre turbo four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and a CVT. It is tuned for smooth, steady acceleration rather than quick passing power.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard across the range and includes a multi-angle rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto high-beam headlamps. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not on the lowest LX trim.
• Infotainment: Every Canadian CR-V gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SMS text messaging functions. Higher trims add audio and navigation upgrades, while the Touring and Black Edition are the only trims with satellite navigation and voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD model is rated at 8.3 L/100 km city, 7.0 L/100 km highway, and 7.7 L/100 km combined. AWD models are rated at 8.7 L/100 km city, 7.4 L/100 km highway, and 8.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2021 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda CR-V is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is the least equipped and is the one trim that does not get blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It makes sense only if you are focused on keeping the purchase price down.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert that the LX misses, while staying close to the lower end of the range.
• EX: This trim builds on the Sport with more comfort and convenience equipment, making it a sensible middle-ground choice if you want more features without stretching too far.
• EX-L: This is the stronger pick if you want a more upscale cabin and more premium equipment, including the audio and connectivity upgrades that move the CR-V closer to a fully loaded feel.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the most complete CR-V, including the navigation system, voice recognition, and wireless phone charger.

The safety package is standard across the range, but the LX misses blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so it rewards shoppers who compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 745 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $25,674 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $25,674 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,546 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for a seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially well kept. If you plan to sell later, the current softness means your return will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability.

The CR-V’s broad popularity should help support demand, but used values are still influenced by how much inventory is available and how many shoppers are comparing it against other compact SUVs.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2021 Honda CR-V earned a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA. It also earns five-star ratings in the NHTSA frontal and side crash tests.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim and includes a multi-angle rearview camera, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, road departure mitigation, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and auto high-beam headlamps. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard from the Sport trim upward, but not on the LX.

The main caveat is that it did not reach the higher IIHS Top Safety Pick+ level because of lower headlight scores and the updated side crash test. It also received an Acceptable rating for LATCH ease of use.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 27.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong safety, broad popularity, and a straightforward ownership experience.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $25,094 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $25,674 CAD average.
• It is a comfortable and capable crossover with improved fuel efficiency and value.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of safety, owner satisfaction, and market availability. If your priority is saving a bit more upfront, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still delivers the CR-V’s core strengths.
