Used 2020 RAM 2500 for Sale nearPeterborough, ON

How much does the 2020 RAM 2500 cost?

Prices have softened 18.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 191 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 RAM 2500 earns a 4.85/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, comfortable ride, and impressive interior features. The Cummins diesel engine and towing capability also come up as strengths, along with the truck’s reliability and long-term dependability.

The main trade-off is that it can feel sluggish, and some owners point to fuel economy and a few interior design details as weak spots. Even so, if you want a heavy-duty truck that feels more refined than purely utilitarian, this model year fits that brief well.

With 37.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still enough market choice to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.85/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck people feel they can count on, especially when it comes to the Cummins diesel engine and day-to-day durability. That kind of dependable reputation matters in a heavy-duty pickup, where buyers often expect long-term use and trouble-free towing.

The expert evaluation also reinforces that this is a truck built to haul every day and keep going, with the diesel powertrain described as something that won’t ever get tired. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that heavy-duty capability can come with higher running costs if the truck has been worked hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 RAM 2500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The truck’s six trim levels range from work-focused to upscale, and the upper trims stand out for their very good to astounding materials and fit and finish. The base trim is much more straightforward, so you should pay close attention to whether the truck you’re considering has the comfort and luxury equipment you want.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 with 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, or a 6.7-litre Cummins inline-six diesel with 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. The gas V8 brings the highest payload capacity, while the diesel is the towing and torque-focused choice.
• Safety package: The truck does not have official NHTSA or IIHS ratings, and most driver assists are optional. Available features include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and forward emergency braking, so you should check carefully whether the truck you are looking at has the safety equipment you want.
• Infotainment: A 5-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth is standard, but the 8.4-inch Uconnect upgrade is the one to look for if you want a more useful system. The available 12-inch display adds a much better experience, with huge maps, trailer settings, and 360-degree camera views.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel test truck averaged close to 12.4 litres per 100 kilometres over more than 800 mostly highway kilometres.

Which 2020 RAM 2500 trim should I buy?

The 2020 RAM 2500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, Limited, Power Wagon, and Mega Cab.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-focused starting point, so it makes sense if you want the Ram 2500’s core capability without paying for the luxury touches that define the upper trims.
• Laramie: This is the trim to target if you want a strong balance of equipment and value, since it moves you into the Ram’s more polished cabin and better overall presentation without jumping all the way to the top end.
• Laramie Longhorn: This trim leans hard into upscale materials and craftsmanship, with the kind of interior detail that makes the truck feel far more premium than most heavy-duty rivals.
• Limited: This is the best choice if you want the most luxurious version of the truck, with the richest materials, the most impressive cabin presentation, and the strongest “wow” factor.
• Power Wagon: Choose this one if you want the off-road-oriented version of the Ram 2500, since it is the trim that stands apart for that purpose.
• Mega Cab: This is the one to consider if cabin space matters most, especially if you want the diesel-powered truck with the roomiest-feeling setup.

Most buyers should focus on the Laramie or Laramie Longhorn for the best mix of value and equipment, while the Limited is the pick if you want the full luxury experience. Safety equipment is still largely optional, so verify the driver-assistance content on any truck you are considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 RAM 2500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 191 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.30% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,860 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $42,152 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,592 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be a challenge if you are planning to sell soon. A softer used market usually means you may need to price more competitively to attract attention, especially if your truck is in a higher trim or has more kilometres.

On the other hand, the current pricing may help keep demand steady among buyers who want a heavy-duty truck with strong capability and a more upscale cabin. If your truck is well equipped and in good condition, that combination can help support resale interest even in a softer market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.85/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 RAM 2500 safe?

The Ram 2500 will not be rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Most driver assists are optional, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and forward emergency braking. Ram says the emergency braking system will function with a trailer attached, which is a useful detail for towing.

The main caveat is that you should not assume a used truck has these features fitted, since they are not standard across the range. You will want to verify the exact safety equipment on the specific truck you are considering.

Should I buy a 2020 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.85/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for its top-grade luxury, technology, and capability.

The bottom line: The 2020 RAM 2500 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck that feels more refined than most rivals and you value the combination of comfort, tech, and capability. If you are price-sensitive, the softer market makes this a good year to shop carefully and look for a well-equipped example near the lower end of the range.
