Used 2023 RAM 2500 for Sale nearPeterborough, ON

How much does the 2023 RAM 2500 cost?

Prices have softened 13.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 460 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 RAM 2500 a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.2/5 user rating and an expert rating of 7.5/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its power and comfort, and many also like the technology and luxury touches. The user feedback also points to strong value for towing and utility features, which fits a heavy-duty truck that still aims to feel accommodating inside.

The trade-offs are that the column shifter feels flimsy and the truck can be difficult to enter and exit. That matters if you plan to use it every day, especially since the 2023 RAM 2500 is positioned as a capable work truck that also tries to serve as a more comfortable daily driver.

With 33.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market offers a decent number of attractive options if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a truck that feels dependable for power, comfort, towing, and utility use. It also suggests that many buyers feel confident relying on it for the kind of demanding work a heavy-duty pickup is built to handle.

The expert drive notes reinforce that impression by describing the truck as surprisingly smooth, unexpectedly docile, and remarkably refined in everyday use. That said, the diesel engine is expensive, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers is less about basic capability and more about whether you’re prepared for higher running costs and the possibility of transmission-related concerns mentioned by owners.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 RAM 2500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Rebel sits apart from the rest of the lineup with a more aggressive look, a crew-cab configuration, and a 6-foot, 4-inch cargo bed. Compared with the Power Wagon, it skips the graphics and badging, the 17-inch wheels, and the integrated Warn winch, so you should make sure the equipment level matches what you want before you buy.
• Powertrain: The standard 6.4-litre V8 makes 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque, while the available 6.7-litre Cummins turbodiesel inline six-cylinder makes 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. The diesel is the more efficient choice, but it is also a pricey upgrade, and the V8 is the one that unlocks the truck’s maximum towing and payload ratings.
• Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking including for trailer brakes, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. Make sure the truck you’re considering has the safety equipment you want, since the test truck had them all but not every used example will.
• Infotainment: Look for the 12-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, SiriusXM 360L, and navigation. The truck also offers blind-spot cameras and a digital rearview mirror, and the system can be configured with a 12-inch digital instrumentation panel.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel test truck returned 12.3 L/100 km on mostly highway driving, 14.6 L/100 km on mountain roads, and 16.0 L/100 km with off-roading. The 6.4-litre V8 was notably thirstier in the same conditions, at 22.8 L/100 km.

Which 2023 RAM 2500 trim should I buy?

The 2023 RAM 2500 is offered in 7 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Power Wagon, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the entry point if you want the most straightforward heavy-duty RAM 2500 experience and plan to prioritise work-truck basics over extra comfort or appearance upgrades.
• Big Horn: Choose this if you want a step up from the base truck without jumping all the way to the more specialised or luxury-focused trims.
• Rebel: This is the trim to target if you want the off-road-focused personality described in the test drive, along with the more distinctive styling and available diesel powertrain. It is the best-value choice for shoppers who want capability and a more premium feel without going all the way to the top of the range.
• Power Wagon: Pick this if you want the most extreme off-road hardware in the lineup, including the equipment that makes it the benchmark for trail use.
• Laramie: This is the better fit if you want a more upscale cabin and a stronger emphasis on comfort and convenience.
• Limited Longhorn: Choose this if you want a more premium, Western-themed luxury presentation with a richer interior feel.
• Limited: This is the trim for buyers who want the most upscale version of the 2500 lineup.

The safety package is available across the heavy-duty lineup, but the test truck’s full ADAS set shows that you should verify which driver-assistance features are included on the specific used example you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 460 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.79% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $67,859 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $67,859 CAD sits slightly below last year's $78,714 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you’re thinking about future resale. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later.

For a future seller, the key question is whether the truck’s capability and comfort keep demand steady in the used market. Heavy-duty pickups with strong owner satisfaction often hold attention well, especially when they offer the kind of towing and utility appeal this one does.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 RAM 2500 safe?

The 2023 RAM 2500 does not have crash-test ratings listed here.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ram offers a broad ADAS suite on this truck, including automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking including for trailer brakes, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. The test truck had all of these systems, which gives you a strong safety feature set if you’re shopping used.

The main caveat is that the available driver aids are helpful, but the expert notes also point out that how the system behaves in denser traffic or on a multi-lane highway is less certain. You should also verify that the specific used truck you’re considering includes the full safety package, since equipment can vary by build.

Should I buy a 2023 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings the Rebel into the lineup with impressive off-road capability, a powerful turbodiesel engine option, and a spacious, comfortable cabin.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck that mixes capability with comfort and you can find one priced well, the 2023 RAM 2500 is the year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep an eye on listings near the low end of the range and be ready to move when you find the right truck.
