Used 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe for Sale near Alberta

How much does the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 13.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 475 listings available, which suggests you have a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfortable seating, great features, and value for the price, and many also appreciate its safety features and spaciousness. The Santa Fe is especially appealing if you want a practical family vehicle that sits between a compact and midsize SUV, with a five-passenger layout that keeps it easy to live with. The main trade-offs are the underpowered, noisy base engine and a design that may not suit every taste.

The market also looks supportive, with 29.9% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle people feel good about living with over time, especially because it is comfortable, well equipped, and valued for its practicality. The expert assessment also describes it as a good daily driver with a smooth ride, decent handling, and refined controls, which supports the idea that it should be easy to count on for regular use.

Hyundai’s five-year/100,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper warranty and five years of roadside assistance add some ownership reassurance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the base engine may feel underwhelming if you expect stronger performance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, Luxury, and Ultimate trims each bring different equipment levels, and the lower trims miss some useful safety gear. The Essential is the most stripped-down choice, while the Ultimate adds the most upscale features and a more distinctive look.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.4-litre four-cylinder makes 185 horsepower and is described as the engine you do not want if you can avoid it. The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder makes 235 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and it is the better choice if you want stronger passing power or expect to drive at altitude.
• Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a driver monitoring system. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the Essential or Preferred, and you need Luxury trim for that.
• Infotainment: Every Santa Fe gets Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Preferred adds SiriusXM and Blue Link connected services, while Ultimate brings an 8-inch display, navigation, wireless smartphone charging, and a 12-speaker Infinity audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The entry-level engine with front-wheel drive uses 10.8 L/100 km in the city, 8.0 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.6 combined. With all-wheel drive, those figures rise to 11.3 L/100 km city, 8.8 highway, and 10.1 combined. The turbocharged engine with all-wheel drive uses 12.0 L/100 km city, 9.2 highway, and 10.7 combined.

Which 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 4 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Luxury, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, but it is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more because some useful safety equipment is optional rather than standard. It makes sense only if you are focused on keeping the purchase price down.
• Preferred: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds SiriusXM, Blue Link connected services, and several useful convenience and safety features. If you want a well-rounded Santa Fe without stretching too far up the range, this is the trim to target.
• Luxury: This is the trim to consider if you want the stronger safety package, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, plus the Blind View Monitor. It is the smarter pick if safety tech matters most to you.
• Ultimate: This is the most feature-rich version, with the larger 8-inch display, navigation, wireless charging, and the 12-speaker Infinity audio system. It suits you best if you want the most upscale Santa Fe experience.

The safety package is not fully standard on the lower trims, so check carefully for the features you want before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to compare options and some room to negotiate if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 475 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.66% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,067 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $20,067 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,242 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Santa Fe has become more accessible for used buyers, which can make it easier for future sellers to compete on value. If you own one and plan to sell later, the current market shows that pricing discipline matters, especially if your vehicle is a lower trim or lacks the more desirable equipment. Strong feature content and a good reputation for comfort and safety should help keep buyer interest steady.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a five-star overall crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The available driver-assistance suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assistance, and a driver monitoring system. A rear-seat reminder system is standard, and Preferred and up trims add safe exit assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on Essential or Preferred, so you need Luxury trim for that equipment.

Should I buy a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is the only Santa Fe in the lineup for this year, and it brings useful updates like a standard rear-seat reminder system and an available camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor.

The bottom line: The 2020 Santa Fe is the right pick if you want the redesigned five-passenger version with strong value, good safety, and a broad spread of listings to shop from. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it carefully against nearby model years to see whether a lower-priced alternative gives you the equipment you need at a better entry point.
