Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, attractive design, and good gas mileage. Many also value the comfortable interior and the sense that it delivers solid value for the money. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a roomy, practical midsize sedan that focuses on everyday comfort and usability rather than premium pricing.

With 39.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with a smooth ride and good gas mileage contributing to a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. The overall impression is that it can be a solid long-term choice if you want a comfortable sedan that is easy to live with.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that reliability is not class-leading, so a careful inspection and service-history review matter more than they would on a top-tier benchmark.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 39.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 79 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,932 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $16,973 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,725 CAD.

That drop suggests the Malibu is currently a buyer-friendly used-car purchase, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if prices continue to normalise. If you buy now, the lower entry price can help offset some depreciation risk, especially if you plan to keep the car for several years. A well-priced example should still appeal to shoppers looking for a comfortable, value-focused midsize sedan.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 39.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2020 Malibu makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, value-oriented midsize sedan and you can take advantage of the softer pricing in today’s market. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry point, but the 2020 is the better all-around target when you want a balance of comfort, value, and buyer confidence.
