Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 173 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.62% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,411 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $19,806 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,411 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Malibu has softened enough to be attractive on the used market, but it also means future sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The model’s value-focused positioning should help it remain appealing to budget-conscious shoppers, especially when equipped with the features buyers want most.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2022 Malibu is the better pick if you want a well-liked, value-oriented midsize sedan with a healthy mix of listings and a softer price trend. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2022 is the stronger all-around choice when you want a balance of satisfaction, availability, and current market value.
