CarGurus Analysis: 2019 RAM 2500
Summary
With 17 currently listed for sale and an average price of $39,995 CAD, 41.2% of 2019 RAM 2500 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2019 RAM 2500 4.6 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2019 RAM 2500 stands out as a heavy-duty truck that leans hard into luxury and technology without giving up its work-truck roots. The redesign brought a stronger frame, a new suspension system, and a new transmission, helping it tow more than 15,875 kilograms and handle almost 3,600 kilograms of payload. It also moved away from the crosshair grille and adopted LED lighting and a more aerodynamic design, giving the truck a more modern look than its predecessors.
Inside, the 2019 RAM 2500 feels especially well equipped for the segment. It borrowed heavily from the Ram 1500, with upgraded materials and available luxury amenities, plus a revised instrument cluster, a rotary gear selector, and a standard trailer brake controller. Available features included a 360-degree camera, a 12-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Harman Kardon 750-watt, 17-speaker audio system. The RamBox also added a 115-volt outlet with up to 400 watts of power, and the tyre pressure monitoring system could monitor up to 12 trailer tyres.
For buyers, the appeal is the combination of capability, comfort, and configuration choice. The 2019 RAM 2500 was offered in Regular-, Crew- and Mega-Cab layouts with standard and long beds depending on trim, and Canadian trim levels included the Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Limited, Limited Longhorn, and Power Wagon. Its base engines were the 6.4-litre Hemi V8 and the 6.7-litre Cummins diesel, with the diesel tweaked for more power and better towing capacity. On the downside, the truck’s column shifter feels flimsy, it can be difficult to enter and exit, and the turbodiesel engine is expensive.

I love this truck, the 8 speed transmission has really helped with towing and fuel economy. Ram should bump the horsepower up to 430 to 450. I highly recommend this truck

Is the 2019 RAM 2500 a good car?
Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the truck’s performance, comfort, towing capability, smooth ride quality, and upscale interior features. That lines up well with the 2019 RAM 2500’s appeal as a heavy-duty truck that still feels refined enough for daily use, family duty, or long-haul towing. With 25.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.
Is the 2019 RAM 2500 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a truck that many drivers feel they can count on for performance, comfort, and towing work over the long term. The strongest reliability-related themes are confidence in the Cummins diesel, satisfaction with the truck’s capability, and appreciation for its durable, upscale feel. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the truck has been maintained carefully, especially if it has been used hard for towing or hauling.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 RAM 2500?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 210 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.84% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $40,111 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 RAM 2500's resale value?
The current average of $40,698 CAD sits slightly below last year's $46,167 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should be grounded in the current market rather than last year’s higher pricing. If demand stays steady, the truck’s strong owner satisfaction should help support values better than a less-liked competitor.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.84% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2020 if:
- At $43,197 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $40,698 CAD average.
- It adds a more luxurious and innovative feel.
The bottom line:
The 2019 is the better starting point if you want strong value, broad inventory, and proven owner satisfaction. If you are willing to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and a more premium presentation, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
