CarGurus Analysis: 2022 RAM 2500
Summary
With 42 currently listed for sale and an average price of $59,588 CAD, 14.3% of 2022 RAM 2500 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 RAM 2500 4.8 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2022 RAM 2500 stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that leans hard into luxury and technology without giving up its work-truck roots. It offers a stronger frame, a new suspension system, and a new transmission, and Ram says it can tow more than 15,875 kilograms and handle almost 3,600 kilograms of payload. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who need serious capability but also want a truck that feels more refined than a bare-bones hauler.
Inside, the 2022 RAM 2500 benefits from a major upgrade in materials and available amenities, along with a revised instrument cluster, a rotary gear selector, and a standard trailer brake controller. Available features include a 360-degree camera, a 12-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a Harman Kardon 750-watt, 17-speaker audio system. It also has the ability to monitor up to 12 trailer tyres, which reinforces its towing focus. The available 6.7-litre Cummins diesel was tweaked to deliver more power and better towing capacity, while the 6.4-litre Hemi V8 remains the base engine.
There are a few trade-offs to keep in mind. The column shifter feels flimsy, it can be difficult to enter and exit, and the turbodiesel engine is expensive. Even so, the 2022 RAM 2500 has a strong appeal for shoppers who want a spacious, comfortable heavy-duty truck with plenty of capability and a long list of useful features.

Great power and rides very smooth. Diesel is surprisingly very quiet. Cabin insulation is great; very little road noise. My Big Horn didn't come with power seats, which was odd. Other than the minor inconvenience, the truck is everything I expected.

This truck has everything I was looking for. Color, cold weather package and low mileage. It was a little more than I really wanted to spend but when you’re shopping for used and you find one that checks all the boxes you have to jump. Black wheels is really the only upgrade or feature i would’ve liked. I wouldn’t compare it to another model because it’s exactly what I wanted.

The features were what I was looking for. The only thing missing was retractable running boards. The running boards that were on this model were quite nice, so I am happy with. Price was fair. Very nice truck.

How much does the 2022 RAM 2500 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $56,991 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $56,253 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $63,554 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $63,431 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.15% |
Prices have softened 10.15% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 332 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2022 RAM 2500 a good car?
Yes — the 2022 RAM 2500 earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its power, comfortable ride, and excellent interior features, and many also value its towing capability and overall usefulness for work or leisure. For you, that means it fits especially well if you want a heavy-duty truck that can handle serious jobs while still feeling comfortable for daily driving. With 31.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 RAM 2500 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also highlights reliability, dependability, and a truck that many people feel confident using over the long term. That matters if you want a used heavy-duty pickup you can count on for towing, hauling, and regular use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure any truck you consider has been maintained carefully, especially given the demands of heavy-duty use.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 RAM 2500?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 332 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.15% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $56,253 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 RAM 2500's resale value?
The current average of $56,991 CAD sits slightly below last year's $63,431 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be a mixed signal if you plan to sell later. On one hand, a lower entry price can help you buy more truck for the money today. On the other hand, a softer market can limit how quickly you recover value when it is time to trade in or sell privately. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2022 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.15% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $66,534 CAD, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $56,991 CAD average.
- It adds a more distinctive off-road-focused Rebel option.
The bottom line:
The 2022 is the better starting point if you want strong value, broad inventory, and proven owner satisfaction. If you are price-sensitive, it is the smarter buy; if you want the newer-year premium and a more specialised off-road angle, the 2023 is worth a look.
How does the 2022 RAM 2500 compare to the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?
| Spec | 2022 RAM 2500 | 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD |
|---|---|---|
| Average used price | $56,991 CAD | $56,600 CAD |
| Listings available | 332 | 140 |
| Good & great deal share | 31.0% | 30.7% |
