Is the 2016 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 RAM 2500 earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its powerful performance and towing capabilities, and many also highlight its comfort and reliability for everyday driving. That lines up well if you want a heavy-duty pickup that can work hard while still feeling more upscale than many trucks in this class. Is the 2016 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that many people find reliable, dependable, and comfortable to live with over time. That said, some owners mention concerns with the 68RFE 6-speed automatic transmission, especially in higher-mileage trucks without service history.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the truck has been maintained properly, particularly if you are looking at a higher-kilometre example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 23.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 107 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,488 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $28,429 CAD sits slightly below last year's $29,517 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if prices continue to drift down. If you plan to resell later, buying at the right price matters more because there is less room for appreciation from today’s average. Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 23.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want a heavy-duty truck with a comfortable cabin, strong towing credentials, and a market that currently offers some pricing relief. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower entry price outweighs the 2016’s balance of capability and owner satisfaction.
