Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 247 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,651 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $16,652 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,248 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy at today’s average, your resale position will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. The current pricing also leaves less room for appreciation, so the best resale outcomes will likely come from well-kept examples with strong service records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Forester is the better pick if you want a practical, well-liked compact SUV with strong value and a broad pool of listings to compare. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to keep an eye on nearby model years as well, but the 2018 is a sensible primary target when you want a balanced mix of satisfaction, availability, and current pricing.
