It also fits shoppers who want a heavy-duty truck with a more upscale feel, plus useful tech and cab configurations for work or everyday use. Is the 2018 RAM 2500 reliable?

The owner feedback also points to reliability, dependability, and trouble-free ownership, with many drivers saying they can count on the truck’s powertrain and towing ability. That kind of long-term confidence matters if you plan to keep a used heavy-duty truck for work or towing. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is making sure the truck has been maintained properly, since hard use can matter more in this segment than in lighter-duty vehicles.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What is the 2018 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $37,219 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,438 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more on condition, mileage, and maintenance history than on broad market momentum alone. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong shape, you should be better positioned when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, solid value, and a more refined feel, the 2018 is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of price, condition, and deal quality.
