Is the RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the RAM 2500 is a strong choice if you want heavy-duty capability with a more comfortable, upscale feel than many trucks in this class. The all-generations owner rating is 4.6/5 across every model year in the data.

The main trade-offs are that newer versions can get expensive quickly, and some expert reviews call out the diesel engine’s cost along with a few usability quirks such as difficult entry and exit and a column shifter that feels flimsy.

28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What RAM 2500 do most buyers choose?

The RAM 2500 years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.

These higher-volume model years tend to be the most popular because they give you a wider selection of trims, prices, and equipment levels. They also sit close enough to the current generation to deliver the modern capability and features many used buyers want.

What is the RAM 2500's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used because it creates more room for value. The biggest drops are concentrated in newer and higher-priced examples, while older trucks show smaller changes. That pattern suggests the market is giving buyers more leverage on recent model years.

The 2017, 2016, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the RAM 2500 safe?

• 2026: 6/10
• 2025: 7/10
• 2023: 8/10
• 2020: 9/10

For the safest used buy, the 2020 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.
