Is the 2025 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 RAM 2500 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.2/10 expert rating, which lines up with its role as a heavy-duty truck built for serious work. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Its appeal is strongest if you need a truck that can haul, tow, and handle demanding jobs, while also offering increasing levels of luxury and refinement. The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, and it can get expensive fast.

The current share of 32.1% good or great deals suggests there are still some attractive listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 RAM 2500 is presented as a serious-duty truck with a strong powertrain and a refined ride for its class, which supports confidence if you need it for regular towing or hauling. Its revised diesel setup and heavy-duty hardware point to a truck designed for demanding use, while the available luxury and comfort features broaden its appeal beyond pure work duty.

Ram also positions the truck as a capable, well-equipped option for buyers who want serious capability without giving up too much comfort. If you plan to use it hard, the main long-term ownership risk is cost: the truck can get expensive quickly, especially once you add the equipment many used buyers will want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 RAM 2500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tradesman is the most basic version, while the Big Horn adds more equipment and can be optioned with chrome highlights. The Laramie is where the luxury features start to show up, and the Limited Longhorn and Limited push further into upscale territory. If you want the best value, the Tradesman Crew Cab with the shorter bed and 4WD is the work-focused pick to compare carefully against better-equipped trims.
• Powertrain: The standard engine is a 6.4-litre Hemi V8 with an eight-speed automatic, while the revised turbocharged 6.7-litre Cummins inline-six diesel is the high-output option with 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The diesel is the big upgrade for 2025 and is the one to prioritise if towing is central to your use.
• Safety package: Forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard, but park assist sensors are not included on the base Tradesman. The optional Safety Group adds adaptive steering, active lane management, automatic high beams, drowsy driver detection, and rain-sensing wipers on Tradesman and Big Horn trucks.
• Infotainment: An 8.4-inch touchscreen is standard on the two lowest trims, while a 12-inch screen is standard on the Power Wagon, Rebel, and Laramie. A 14.4-inch unit is available on the upper trims, and the truck can also be equipped with a passenger screen and towing-focused camera and trailer tools.
• Fuel efficiency: No fuel-consumption figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2025 RAM 2500 trim should I buy?

The 2025 RAM 2500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Power Wagon, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-first choice, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry point and plan to add the equipment you need. It starts with the basics, but the available Level 2 Equipment Group, Safety Group, and Towing Technology Group can make it much more usable for daily work.
• Big Horn: This is the step-up trim to consider if you want a better balance of equipment and value than the Tradesman. It can be optioned with the Safety Group, and it sits in the part of the lineup where you can add useful comfort and tech without jumping straight to luxury pricing.
• Power Wagon: This is the off-road specialist, with electronic locking front and rear differentials and a disconnecting sway bar. It is the right pick if trail ability matters more than towing-focused versatility.
• Rebel: This is the better choice if you want off-road capability but still need to tow heavy loads regularly. It keeps the rugged character while being more balanced for mixed use than the Power Wagon.
• Laramie: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the luxury and tech upgrades that make the truck feel much more modern. It adds leather seating surfaces, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and the larger standard touchscreen, making it a strong middle ground.
• Limited Longhorn / Limited: These are the premium choices if you want the most upscale cabin and are willing to pay for it. The Limited Longhorn leans into its cowboy-themed interior, while the Limited is the more understated luxury option with open-pore wood and premium leather.

The Safety Group is optional on Tradesman and Big Horn, while higher trims get those features standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 RAM 2500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but still enough demand to keep the best trucks moving.

• Deal availability: 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 346 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.42% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $78,848 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $78,848 CAD sits slightly below last year's $91,074 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be good news if you're buying now but less ideal if you're planning to sell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means you may not recover as much as owners did a year ago unless demand strengthens again.

Even so, trucks with strong capability and broad appeal tend to hold attention better than niche vehicles. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 RAM 2500 safe?

The 2025 RAM 2500 earns a four-star rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ram includes forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking as standard equipment, and park assist sensors are standard on all but the base Tradesman trim. The optional Safety Group adds adaptive steering, active lane management, automatic high beams, drowsy driver detection, and rain-sensing wipers on Tradesman and Big Horn trucks, while higher trims get those features standard.

A surround-view camera system and Cargo View Camera are also available through packages, which helps with manoeuvring and towing. The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should check carefully for the equipment you want on any used example.

Should I buy a 2025 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 brings a major diesel upgrade, with the High Output Cummins now standard in the 2500.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a few noteworthy updates and an intriguing new pair of trim levels.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, proven capability, and broad used-market choice, the 2025 is the safer buy. If you want the newest updates and are willing to pay for them, the 2026 is worth a look; if you're price-sensitive, the 2025's softer pricing makes it the smarter target.
