Is the 2018 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Kia Sorento earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable interior, and smooth driving experience, while also highlighting its spaciousness and safety features. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a family-friendly midsize SUV with a more polished feel and useful everyday comfort. With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, with the Sorento seen as a vehicle you can count on for family use. At the same time, some owners mention potential mechanical concerns, especially with the V6, so a careful used-car inspection still matters. For you, the long-term ownership risk is manageable, but it is worth prioritising service history and a thorough pre-purchase check.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 326 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.22% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,830 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $13,880 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,567 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Sorento has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. If you buy well now, you may benefit from the lower entry cost, but resale gains are likely to depend more on condition, mileage, and maintenance than on market momentum alone. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a well-rounded midsize SUV with a comfortable cabin, useful space, and a strong value proposition, the 2018 Sorento is the primary year to focus on. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a similar example offers a better deal, but the 2018 stands out as a sensible starting point for most used-SUV shoppers.
