The roomy interior and smooth ride come through as recurring strengths, while the overview also frames it as a practical, well-equipped midsize sedan with a lot of content for the money. Drivers’ feedback highlights reliability as a key strength, alongside value and comfort, which suggests many owners have found it dependable in everyday use. Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 121 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.45% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,350 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $12,350 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,270 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you own one for a few years, resale value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Because the model is positioned as a value-focused sedan, it may appeal most to shoppers who prioritise affordability over prestige. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Sonata makes the most sense if you want a roomy, comfortable sedan with strong owner approval and you’re focused on value. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2017 can be worth a look as a lower-cost alternative, while the 2019 may appeal if you want a newer model-year option and are willing to pay more.
