Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to a well-liked used SUV. Owners most often praise its comfortable ride, spacious interior, and good fuel economy, and many also highlight the turbo engine upgrade for better power and efficiency. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a compact SUV that feels roomy and easy to live with. Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a more dependable feel than the previous generation, with the turbo engine often singled out as an improvement. That said, some owners raised concerns about engine reliability, so a careful inspection and maintenance review matter if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 23.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 327 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.86% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,795 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $14,873 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,067 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you own one for a few years, the current price trend implies future resale values may stay under pressure unless demand strengthens. Even so, the model’s roomy cabin and strong owner satisfaction should help it remain appealing to used buyers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 23.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the cleaner, more modern third-generation Equinox with a roomy cabin and strong owner approval, the 2018 is the better path. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 stands out as the more appealing choice when you want updated feel and decent market value.
