Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to a well-liked used SUV. Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and good fuel economy, and many also highlight the turbo engine’s stronger balance of power and efficiency. For you, that makes the 2018 Equinox a sensible pick if you want a practical compact SUV with a roomier cabin and a more modern feel than the previous generation. 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a more dependable-feeling turbo powertrain than earlier Equinox models, which is encouraging if you want something you can count on. At the same time, some owners raised concerns about engine reliability, so a careful inspection and service-history review still matter. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but only if you shop carefully and verify maintenance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 336 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,792 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $14,899 CAD sits slightly below last year's $17,063 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favour, which can make future resale a little more challenging if you buy at the wrong price. If you purchase near the current average or below, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation exposure. The Equinox’s roomy cabin and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the cleaner redesign, roomier cabin, and stronger owner satisfaction signal, the 2018 is the better starting point. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but you should still focus on condition and price first because the best value will come from the best-kept example rather than the cheapest badge.
