Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating suggests you’re looking at a well-liked used SUV. Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and good fuel economy, and many also point to the improved turbo engine as a strong step forward for power and efficiency. For you, that makes the 2018 Equinox a sensible fit if you want a roomy five-passenger compact SUV with everyday practicality and a more modern feel than the generation it replaced. With 22.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to the 2018 Equinox as more dependable than the previous generation, especially thanks to its newer turbocharged engines. That said, some owners still raised concerns about engine reliability, so you should pay close attention to maintenance records and any signs of past mechanical issues.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a poorly maintained example, so a careful inspection matters.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Equinox?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 323 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,516 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $14,516 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,503 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Equinox easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to protect value over time. The roomy cabin and broad appeal should help keep it relevant with used shoppers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the redesigned third-generation Equinox with a more modern powertrain lineup, a roomy cabin, and a strong value story in today’s market. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2018 is the better starting point when you want the newer design and a broader mix of available listings.
