Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Outback?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 173 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $14,005 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $14,005 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,573 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you're buying now, but it also means a future seller may face a more competitive resale environment if prices stay under pressure. If demand remains steady, the Outback's practical appeal and broad usefulness should help support values better than a less versatile vehicle. Strong owner satisfaction can also help keep interest healthy when it's time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Outback makes the most sense if you want a roomy, all-weather used vehicle with strong owner approval and a market that has become more buyer-friendly. If you're price-sensitive, it's also worth comparing nearby years to see whether a similar example offers a better deal, but the 2017 remains a solid primary target if you value comfort, capability, and broad everyday usefulness.
