Is the 2017 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the powerful performance, modern and comfortable interior, and user-friendly features. The truck also fits well if you want serious utility without giving up comfort and equipment, especially given its heavy-duty capability and available luxury touches. With 21.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, with many drivers saying they appreciate its dependable towing ability and overall trouble-free ownership experience. That said, some owners mention ride quality and steering concerns in certain trucks, so a careful used inspection still matters.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding a truck that has been worked hard without the maintenance history to match.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 146 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.62% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,015 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $33,953 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,975 CAD.

That softer pricing can be a positive if you buy now, because it lowers your upfront cost and may leave more room for future resale stability. If the market continues to normalise, a well-kept truck bought near the lower end of the range could be easier to position competitively later. Strong demand for heavy-duty trucks with useful equipment and comfort features should help support interest from future buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 21.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a used heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, a comfortable cabin, and pricing that has eased from last year, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If your priority is simply finding the lowest possible entry price, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever truck has the best maintenance history and condition for the money.
