Is the 2017 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the powerful performance, modern and comfortable interior, and user-friendly features, and many also value its towing capability. For you, that means this truck makes the most sense if you want a heavy-duty pickup that can work hard while still feeling more upscale than a basic work truck. With 24.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2017 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights reliability, with many drivers describing it as dependable and capable over time. That said, some owners mention ride quality and steering concerns in certain trucks, so condition and maintenance history still matter. For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is best managed by focusing on well-maintained examples with clear service records.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 141 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.73% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,015 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $33,854 CAD sits slightly below last year's $34,450 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if prices continue to drift. If you plan to own the truck for several years, the current trend is not alarming, but it does suggest you should buy based on condition and equipment rather than expecting appreciation. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 24.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.73% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, a comfortable cabin, and a market that still offers some deal opportunities, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced, best-maintained example rather than the badge year alone.
