It looks like a buyer’s market right now, especially if you are willing to compare listings carefully and move quickly on a well-priced example.

• Inventory: There are 53 listings available.

What is the 2017 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $23,779 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,451 CAD.

That softer pricing can be helpful if you are buying now, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. The current market suggests the model is still in demand, just not at the same level it was a year ago. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should be in a better position when it comes time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 41.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want the refreshed styling, standard Lexus Safety System+ features, and a market that currently favours shoppers. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is still worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2017’s updated equipment and stronger deal availability.
