Is the 2017 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Kia Sorento earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise the smooth ride, stylish interior, and comfort, and many also like the available V6 power for a more relaxed driving experience. For you, that makes it a sensible choice if you want a well-rounded midsize SUV with family-friendly space and a more polished feel than earlier versions. With 25.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with comments that suggest it can be a vehicle you can count on over the long term. That said, some owners mentioned occasional engine issues, so a careful used-car inspection still matters. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained properly and has no unresolved mechanical concerns.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 259 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,710 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $12,900 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,834 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Sorento easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you purchase at a strong price, you may be better positioned to protect your value later. The model’s broad appeal as a practical midsize SUV should help keep demand steady, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 25.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Sorento is a strong pick if you want a well-equipped, comfortable midsize SUV with solid owner approval and a market that currently favours careful shoppers. If your priority is getting the best possible value, this year deserves a close look; if you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower-priced example offers similar equipment and satisfaction.
