Is the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.77/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfortable ride, spacious interior, and luxury features, and many also value its performance, safety, and towing capability. That fits the model’s appeal if you want a used SUV that feels more premium than many mainstream rivals while still offering genuine capability for everyday driving and rougher conditions. With 26.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a well-priced example.

Is the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights a dependable-feeling package for many shoppers, with praise centred on comfort, performance, and the ability to handle towing and daily use with confidence. That said, some reviewers mention concerns about gas mileage and interior materials, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition when shopping used. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about outright appeal and more about finding an example that has been cared for properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing on every listing.

• Deal availability: 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 234 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.46% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,941 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $17,941 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,736 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the model more attractive to used buyers today but less favourable for sellers trying to maximise return. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less room for future depreciation than someone who bought when prices were higher. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that value retention will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want the Grand Cherokee’s blend of comfort, capability, and premium feel, especially if you value a model year with broad appeal and a softer used-market price than it had a year ago. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can also use the nearby model years as comparison points, but the 2017 remains a sensible target when you find a clean example with solid history and a price near the lower end of the range.
