Is the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.77/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its comfortable ride, spacious interior, and luxury features, and many also value its performance, safety, and towing capability. That lines up well with the model’s appeal if you want a used SUV that feels more premium than many mainstream rivals while still offering genuine capability. Is the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.77/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience for many shoppers, with comments highlighting comfort, performance, and the ability to count on it for towing and everyday use. At the same time, some reviewers mention concerns about gas mileage and interior materials, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition when shopping used. For long-term ownership, the main risk is buying a neglected example rather than one that has been properly cared for.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully before committing.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 232 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.10% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $17,870 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $17,870 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,299 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the vehicle easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you may need to be more competitive on condition, mileage, and service records to stand out. On the other hand, the model’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it is time to list it.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.77/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.77/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a Grand Cherokee with strong owner approval, a comfortable ride, and a good mix of capability and premium feel, the 2017 is a solid place to focus your search. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years and prioritise the best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
