Is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 4.45/5 user rating suggests you can expect a well-liked used SUV. Owners most often praise its comfort, smooth ride, and the variety of features it offers, and many also feel it delivers a more premium experience than they expected. The Cherokee’s mix of everyday usability and available all-weather traction makes it a sensible fit if you want a compact SUV with a distinctive design and useful equipment. With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

That said, owner feedback also points to some concerns around reliability and quality, including reports of breakdowns and repairs. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is worth weighing carefully, especially if you are comparing examples with different service histories.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Jeep Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be patient and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 325 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,476 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $13,476 CAD sits slightly below last year's $16,889 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Cherokee easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, the current pricing trend means your return will depend heavily on buying well and keeping the vehicle in strong condition. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 20.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Cherokee makes the most sense if you want a well-equipped compact SUV with a strong comfort reputation and you can shop carefully for a good example. If you are price-sensitive, it is also worth comparing nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price or a better-maintained example gives you more value for your budget.
