Is the 2016 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Kia Sorento earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its reliability, performance, smooth ride, handling, and good fuel efficiency, and many also like the range of features it offers. That lines up well with its role as a practical midsize SUV with a more mature design, improved materials, and more passenger space than earlier Sorentos. With 22.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also highlights reliability, dependability, and a generally trouble-free ownership experience, which is encouraging if you want a used SUV you can count on. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about the model’s overall reputation and more about finding one that has been maintained properly and hasn’t been worn down by heavy family use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage but still need to compare carefully.

• Deal availability: 22.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 219 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 23.62% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,692 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $10,692 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,997 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Sorento easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that today’s lower entry price can help attract buyers, but you should still expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and service history. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 22.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 23.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Sorento is a sensible choice if you want a well-equipped used midsize SUV with strong owner approval and a softer price than it had a year ago. If you’re more price-sensitive, it’s worth comparing nearby model years for the best combination of condition, mileage, and asking price, but the 2016 remains a solid primary target.
