Is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Jeep Cherokee earns a 4.1/5 user rating, which points to solid overall satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its sporty feel, comfortable interior, and adequate power, and many also like its convenient size and features such as heated seats and a heated steering wheel. For you, that makes it a sensible fit if you want a compact SUV with everyday comfort and a bit of Jeep character, rather than a purely utilitarian crossover. With 24.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.1/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to dependable day-to-day use for many owners, with comments that suggest it can be a trouble-free choice when maintained well. At the same time, some drivers raised concerns about build quality, especially around the engine and transmission, so you should pay close attention to service records and test-drive behaviour. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you verify the vehicle’s maintenance history carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Jeep Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 24.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 338 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.21% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,952 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $11,952 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,096 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Cherokee easier to buy now but may also limit near-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to own it for a while, the current pricing gives you a lower entry point, but resale gains are unlikely to be dramatic unless the vehicle is especially well kept. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.1/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 24.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.1/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Cherokee makes sense if you want a comfortable compact SUV with decent owner satisfaction and a market that currently favours careful shoppers. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2016 is the better pick when you want a balance of value, features, and buyer confidence.
