Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Hyundai Sonata earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its features, comfort, and overall value, and many also appreciate the technology and the condition of the vehicle even after substantial mileage. That lines up well with its role as a roomy, comfortable midsize sedan that was built to feel more upscale and better equipped than its price might suggest. With 24.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully and find a strong-value example.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe it as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with many noting that it holds up well even after substantial mileage. That kind of feedback matters for a used buyer because it suggests the car can be a sensible long-term ownership choice if you find one that has been maintained properly. Still, you should shop carefully and verify service history, since used-car condition can vary a lot from one example to the next.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to be patient and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 24.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 143 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,729 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $11,080 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,609 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you plan to own it for a while, the softer pricing can work in your favour at purchase time. If you expect to resell soon, you should be realistic about value retention and focus on buying a clean, well-documented example. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 24.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better pick if you want the strongest mix of value, comfort, and owner satisfaction in this part of the Sonata range. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years, but the 2016 stands out as a sensible primary target when you want a well-equipped midsize sedan with broad appeal and a market that is currently more favourable to buyers.
