Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its great value, reliability, comfortable features, good gas mileage, and stability on the road. That lines up well if you want a full-size pickup that can work hard while still offering useful technology and everyday comfort. Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability and a dependable feel, with many drivers describing it as a truck they can count on. That said, some owners mention the Chevy Shake issue, so you should pay close attention to service records and how the truck drives on a test route. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is buying a poorly maintained example with unresolved drivetrain or vibration concerns.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 284 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.36% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $19,207 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $19,456 CAD sits slightly below last year's $22,457 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the truck easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you should be better positioned to protect value over time. The current trend also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Silverado 1500 makes sense if you want a well-liked full-size pickup with a softer used-market price and enough inventory to compare examples. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth considering, but the 2016 is the better starting point if you want a balance of owner approval, market availability, and value.
