The current average of $17,660 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,060 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $16,979 CAD, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $17,660 CAD average.
• It offers a compelling cabin with broad comfort and luxury appeal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better all-around pick if you want the newer year with strong owner satisfaction and a healthy used market. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly alternative and still delivers much of the same comfort-focused appeal.
