How much does the 2016 Ford F-150 cost?

Prices have softened 7.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 408 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Ford F-150 earns a 4.62/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

You get a truck that is praised for its comfort, power, and variety of features, with a smooth ride and spacious interior coming up repeatedly in owner feedback. The overview also frames it as a pickup that leans hard into luxury without losing its truck identity, which makes it especially appealing if you want a more upscale full-size truck experience. The market also shows 25.2% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.62/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with comfort, power, and a broad feature set standing out alongside praise for the smooth ride and strong engines. The expert assessment also describes the F-150 as better than average for reliability, which supports the idea that it can be a sensible long-term choice if it has been maintained properly. Ford also includes free 911 Assist through Sync, which adds a useful ownership perk without a subscription.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is age-related wear, especially on higher-mileage examples where maintenance history matters more than the badge.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim is the luxury-focused standout, with 22-inch wheels, satin-finish accents, Mojave leather, eucalyptus wood, and a more upscale cabin presentation. Lower trims such as XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, and Platinum are also part of the lineup, so you should compare how much equipment you actually need against the price jump.
• Powertrain: The standard twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 delivers 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, and it is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with manual shift control and a Sport driving mode. It is described as powerful and confident, but the fuel-use figure noted in testing was 14.0 L/100 km.
• Safety package: Ford offers adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support, plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and a lane-keeping system. Some of these features are available rather than standard, so check carefully that the truck you are considering has the driver-assistance equipment you want.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 brings a capacitive touchscreen with swipe capability, improved voice recognition, integrated Siri compatibility, and Wi-Fi software updates. A rear-view camera is standard, while built-in navigation is optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test loop returned 14.0 L/100 km, and the cost-effectiveness notes say there are no official fuel-economy figures from Natural Resources Canada for this configuration.

Which 2016 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2016 Ford F-150 is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the F-150 lineup and do not need the luxury touches found higher up.
• XLT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the range and should give you a better balance of equipment and price than the more expensive trims.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the premium-priced upper trims.
• King Ranch: This trim suits you if you want a more distinctive, upscale truck with a stronger luxury lean.
• Platinum: This is for buyers who want a high-end F-150 with a more premium presentation and are willing to pay for it.
• Limited: This is the luxury flagship, with the richest materials and the most exclusive feel; it is the right pick if you want the most lavish version of the truck and price is secondary.

The safety package includes adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support, plus blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-keeping assist, but some of these features are not standard on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 408 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,448 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $21,452 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,125 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become a little more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively if they want to move quickly. The year-round range still leaves room for stronger examples to command more money, especially if they are well equipped and in good condition. Because prices have already softened, a clean truck with desirable features should be easier to justify than one with high mileage or visible wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.62/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Ford F-150 safe?

The 2016 Ford F-150 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, along with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford includes 911 Assist through Sync, which can automatically call emergency responders if the airbags deploy and a paired device is in the vehicle. Available driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control with forward collision warning and brake support, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a lane-keeping system that can alert the driver to unintended lane departure and help prevent it. The expert notes also point out that the truck is not eligible for Top Safety Pick+ because it does not have automatic emergency braking.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.62/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 model year stands out for its luxury-leaning Limited trim, Sync 3 infotainment upgrade, and strong safety performance.

The bottom line: If you want a used F-150 that blends luxury, strong owner satisfaction, and solid safety, the 2016 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained truck rather than chasing the newest badge.
