The current average of $19,722 CAD sits slightly below last year's $21,300 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one for a few years, the current market trend implies resale value may remain sensitive to condition, mileage, and maintenance history. Trucks with clean records and desirable equipment should still attract attention, especially when the model continues to draw steady shopper interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 22.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Silverado 1500 makes the most sense if you want a well-equipped full-size pickup with broad body-style choice, strong owner approval, and a market that still offers some deal potential. If you are more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained truck rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
