Why it stands out
The 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 stands out as part of the third-generation truck, a redesign that brought lighter curb weights, higher towing capacities, improved fuel economy from standard cylinder deactivation technology, and a more modern look. It also offered a broad range of body styles, with regular cab, extended cab, and crew cab configurations paired with short, standard, and long cargo beds. For buyers who wanted a full-size pickup that could do the work while still feeling more up to date than older trucks, that combination of capability and versatility was a major part of its appeal.
For 2015, the Silverado’s available eight-speed automatic transmission debuted, but only with the largest and most powerful 6.2-litre V8 engine. The truck also carried over Chevrolet’s MyLink infotainment system with up to an eight-inch touchscreen display, along with safety features such as forward-collision and lane-departure warning systems. The High Country trim added a more luxurious feel, while the Z71 trim brought extra off-road ruggedness, giving the Silverado a wider spread of personalities than many rivals.
There are trade-offs, though. The third-generation Silverado 1500 is described as the most problematic of the line, with complaints centred mainly on transmission trouble that began when the eight-speed automatic became available. Owner feedback also points to concerns with the air conditioning condenser and transmission performance, even as many drivers praise the truck’s value, comfort, styling, and overall performance.

The truck was great, even after all the engine upgrades, to bad the transmission was built like the engine was and didnt blow.

Depends what model of Silverado you get, but they can have a lot of nice features! You need to watch out for the AC condenser in the 14-15s (check AC when purchasing), and the 4l60 transmission is a little clunky in the newer trucks.. Its not terrible but youll notice it. I have owned a 02 Silverado, 04 Silverado, and now a 15 Silverado. I miss the cat eye, it was my favorite truck out of all of them, but they were always good to me and never left me stranded.

Has what I was looking for, rides great. Price was lower than comparable trucks in the area. No mechanical problems, happy with purchase.

I happen to think that the Chevrolet Silverado is one of the best trucks ever made. The comfortable ride thats Stylish, Rugged, Strong enough to pull my heavy duty trailer yet drive out on the town for an evening with my bride. I prefer the High Country trim package personally although all of them and i have tried many others The Chevy Silverado is the absolute best! J. D. Clanton
