Is the 2015 Ford Mustang reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter most to enthusiasts: strong power, satisfying handling, and a design that keeps people engaged over time. The expert assessment also notes that the Mustang has historically been slightly better than average in quality, dependability, and ownership costs.

Ford also positions this generation as a more technologically sophisticated car, which can be a plus for everyday use, but it can also mean more systems to keep working as the car ages. For used buyers, that makes a careful inspection of features and electronics especially worthwhile.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Mustang?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT, GT Premium, and 50 Years Limited Edition are the trims called out for the V8, while the base Mustang V6 is the entry point. The GT test car was sparsely equipped and lacked Ford’s MyFord Touch infotainment system, so you should check feature content carefully if you want a better-equipped cabin.
• Powertrain: You can shop the Mustang with a V6, a turbocharged 2.3-litre EcoBoost four-cylinder, or the 5.0-litre V8. The V8 is the standout for sound and thrust, while the EcoBoost is the budget-friendly choice and can be paired with a manual gearbox and Performance Package.
• Safety package: MyKey is standard and lets you set limits for speed and stereo volume for younger drivers. A backup camera is standard, while blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control are available. The standard Sync Bluetooth system also includes 911 Assist.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses knobs and buttons with voice-activated Ford Sync and Bluetooth. An optional MyFord Touch system adds an 8-inch touchscreen, with navigation and a premium audio system with HD Radio available after that.
• Fuel efficiency: The GT test car returned 12.6 L/100 km, and Natural Resources Canada says it should have returned 15.2 L/100 km in the city and 9.3 L/100 km on the highway. The EcoBoost version is described as more frugal, with a reported 10.1 L/100 km result.

Which 2015 Ford Mustang trim should I buy?

The 2015 Ford Mustang is offered in 4 trim levels: Mustang V6, Mustang GT, Mustang GT Premium, and 50 Years Limited Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Mustang V6: This is the entry point if you want the Mustang shape and character at the lowest price. It makes sense if you care more about the badge, styling, and everyday usability than V8 performance.
• Mustang GT: This is the best-value choice if you want the classic Mustang experience. The V8, stronger performance, and available manual gearbox make it the trim most aligned with the car’s personality.
• Mustang GT Premium: Choose this if you want the GT’s performance with more comfort and equipment. It suits you if you want the stronger engine but also expect a more upscale daily driver.
• 50 Years Limited Edition: This is the special-occasion pick for buyers who want the anniversary model and its added collectability. It makes the most sense if you value exclusivity as much as performance.

The safety package includes MyKey, a standard backup camera, and available blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert and adaptive cruise control.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Mustang?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 105 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.60% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,669 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Mustang's resale value?

The current average of $23,151 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,430 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more affordably today. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than just model-year age.

The Mustang’s strong enthusiast appeal should help support demand, especially for better-equipped or more desirable versions. If you keep the car clean and well maintained, you may be better positioned when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford Mustang safe?

The 2015 Mustang earns five-star ratings for nearly all NHTSA assessments, including rollover resistance, and the IIHS rates it Good in all tests except the driver’s side small overlap, where it receives an Acceptable grade.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

MyKey is standard and lets you set limits for speed and stereo volume while encouraging seat-belt use. A backup camera is standard, and blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert plus adaptive cruise control are available. The standard Sync Bluetooth system also includes 911 Assist, which can automatically alert emergency responders after a collision if a paired device is in the car.

The main caveat is the IIHS small-overlap result on the driver’s side, which is weaker than the rest of the crash-test record. That is worth keeping in mind if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Mustang or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a big improvement in both dynamics and technology.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $18,812 CAD, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $23,151 CAD average.
• It feels thoroughly developed and benefits from five decades of engineering refinement.

The bottom line: If you want the more modern, better-rounded Mustang, the 2015 is the stronger pick. If your priority is spending less and you still want classic Mustang character with strong performance, the 2014 is the value-oriented alternative.
