Reviews SummaryAfter a shortened 2023 introduction, the 2024 Lyriq is the first full model year of Cadillac's midsize electric SUV. The Lyriq is the luxury version of the GM Ultium EV platform used in other EV SUVs, including the Chevrolet Blazer EV, Honda Prologue, and Acura ZDX. With ample power, up to 505 kilometres of range, and a properly upscale interior that finally looks different than a Chevy, the Lyriq is a good contender if you're shopping for a higher-priced, two-row electric SUV. We tested a fully loaded Lyriq Sport 3, which is priced in Canada at $90,023 including a $2,300 destination charge and other fees. Verdict: As an EV, the Lyriq is average. As a Cadillac, it’s much better than anything else in the showroom. Traditional brand hallmarks, such as a cavernous back seat and a gentle ride, blend with big screens and significantly improved material quality. But it's still not up to the luxury standard that Cadillac promises.
Reviews SummaryRedesigned for 2026, the new Hyundai Palisade brings more than just fresh looks. For the first time, Hyundai is now offering a hybrid powertrain with its big three-row, family SUV. Capable of traveling more than 950 kilometres on a single tank of fuel, the Palisade Hybrid solves one of the only downsides of the market’s best three-row SUV: fuel efficiency. The Palisade Hybrid delivers more than just great fuel economy, though. It’s more powerful than the gas model, and in higher trim levels the Palisade Hybrid feels more luxurious than its competition. Verdict: Simply put, Hyundai currently sells the best mass-market three-row crossover SUV in North America. The 2026 Hyundai Palisade looks good, drives well, and feels special — and it will keep you away from the gas station, too.

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ was a striking vehicle with a design that commanded attention. Its exterior styling was reminiscent of a long sedan, despite being an SUV, with a long hood and low ground clearance. The vertical light bars and LED headlights added a modern touch, while the wraparound taillights and fender-mounted vertical lights created a unique visual signature. Inside, the LYRIQ boasted luxurious details, such as leather-wrapped seats and polished chrome accents. However, the floating centre console was a design misstep, offering little functionality despite its aesthetic appeal.
In contrast, the 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid was available in two trims, Luxury and Ultimate Calligraphy, both of which exuded style and presence. The massive grille and LED lighting elements gave the Palisade a bold front-end appearance, while the rear featured wide-spaced letters and LED taillights. Inside, the Palisade Hybrid impressed with its thoughtful design and craftsmanship. The cabin was filled with organic shapes and high-quality materials, offering a richer feel than many non-luxury crossovers. The Palisade's interior was both comfortable and functional, with ample storage solutions and a focus on passenger comfort.

The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ, despite its sporty exterior, was more at home on the highway, offering a calm and poised ride. It featured two powertrain options: a single rear motor with 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque, or an optional dual-motor setup with 500 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. The LYRIQ's 102-kilowatt-hour battery pack provided a claimed range of 505 kilometres with rear-wheel drive and 494 kilometres with all-wheel drive. However, real-world testing showed a maximum range closer to 420 kilometres. The LYRIQ's handling was hindered by its weight, and its steering and braking left much to be desired, lacking the agility and responsiveness expected from a Cadillac.
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid, on the other hand, delivered impressive performance for a three-row crossover. Its powertrain combined a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, producing a total of 329 horsepower and 339 pound-feet of torque. The Palisade Hybrid's advanced eight-speed automatic transmission and hybrid system contributed to its smooth and efficient performance. The vehicle's handling was enhanced by its ability to adjust power distribution, providing a balanced and responsive driving experience. Inside, the Palisade Hybrid offered a quiet and comfortable ride, with effective noise insulation and a well-tuned steering system.
The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ faced challenges in terms of build quality and functionality. Misaligned rear fenders and a problematic charging port were notable issues. The interior, while spacious, had a small cargo hold of 793 litres behind the seats and 1,722 litres when folded. The floating console and touchscreen controls were not user-friendly, and certain design elements seemed poorly integrated.
In contrast, the 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid offered a generous total cargo capacity of 2,455 litres, although it trailed some competitors. The second-row legroom was slightly compromised by the battery placement, but the cabin remained comfortable and well-equipped. The Palisade Hybrid featured dual-zone climate control, multiple USB-C power outlets, and flexible seating options, including captain's chairs. The interior was designed with practicality in mind, offering numerous storage solutions and a focus on passenger comfort.
The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ featured a 33-inch OLED screen with three sections, offering touch-enabled controls and a high-quality infotainment system with Google Maps and Google Assistant. The Super Cruise system provided excellent hands-free driving capabilities, and the 19-speaker AKG stereo delivered impressive sound quality. However, the lack of an augmented reality video feed and some cumbersome controls detracted from the overall experience.
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid came equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, offering wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The Driver Talk intercom system facilitated communication between rows, and the Ultimate Calligraphy trim included a built-in dashcam. The Palisade Hybrid also introduced "Stay Mode," allowing the use of climate control and infotainment while the engine was off, adding to its technological appeal.
The 2024 Cadillac LYRIQ came standard with a suite of safety features, including forward automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and blind-spot monitoring. However, it received a poor rating for its headlights from the IIHS and had not been crash-tested by the NHTSA.
The 2026 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid offered a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic assist, and automatic emergency braking. The blind-view monitor was standard on higher trims, and the rear doors featured a safe-exit alert. While the 2026 model had not been crash-tested, the 2025 Palisade received a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS.
