Reviews Summary

The redesigned 2026 Audi A6 marks the ninth generation of midsize luxury sedans from Ingolstadt, Germany. While it shares a name and some tech features with the Audi A6 e-tron introduced for the 2025 model year, the gasoline A6 is an otherwise different vehicle based on the same Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) as the A5 sedan and Q5 crossover. A redesign was certainly needed as most other midsize luxury sedans—specifically the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class—were renewed more recently, and we haven’t had a genuinely new A6 since the 2020 model year.

Verdict: On paper, the A6 looks like more of a premium product than before, but it doesn’t feel that way from behind the wheel, and the tech is a work in progress.

Reviews Summary

It doesn’t have a V8, but the 2026 Dodge Charger does have 550 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque from a turbocharged SIXPACK High Output inline-six engine. All-wheel drive is also standard, and additional drive modes mean smoky burnouts, drifting and donuts remain Charger specialties. It’s offered in two- and four-door styles, and there’s plenty of interior room for adult passengers, making it a uniquely powerful and potentially practical American muscle car for the right buyer.

Verdict: Who needs a Hemi? It’s not likely to have broad appeal as a family car, but the 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack stands out as a truly modern muscle car.

Look and feel

2026 Audi A6

8/10

2026 Dodge Charger

7/10

The 2026 Dodge Charger was a bold and commanding presence on the road, boasting the widest body in the industry. Its dimensions were significantly larger than its predecessor, requiring careful parking, especially for the two-door coupe with its long doors. The gas-powered Charger Scat Pack featured a distinctive grille design reminiscent of the 1960s muscle car era, complete with an illuminated Fratzog logo and blacked-out intakes. The Charger’s sleek fastback body shape was complemented by a gloss black spoiler and dual stainless steel exhaust tips, paying homage to Dodge’s muscle car heritage. Inside, the Charger offered a spacious and modern interior with a large digital touchscreen and unique design elements like the Attitude Adjustment lighting system and a pistol-grip shifter.

The 2026 Audi A6, while not as visually striking as some competitors, maintained a handsome and refined appearance. Its design featured a lower, more pronounced “singleframe” grille and fender flares inspired by the Quattro rally car. The A6’s lighting system included pixelated LED headlights with programmable signatures and taillights that could display different icons. Available in base, Progressiv, and Technik trims, the A6 offered a sportier appearance with the S Line Black package, which included a sportier front bumper and dark chrome wheels. Despite its elegant design, the interior materials were somewhat disappointing, lacking the premium feel expected in a luxury sedan.

Performance

2026 Dodge Charger

7/10

The 2026 Dodge Charger offered a range of powertrain options, including both electric and gasoline engines. The electric Charger Daytona R/T delivered 456 horsepower, while the Daytona Scat Pack boasted an impressive 630 hp. The gasoline-fueled Charger R/T started at 420 hp, with the Scat Pack model we tested producing 550 hp. The Charger’s turbocharged engine provided strong performance, with a 0-96 km/h time of 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 285 km/h. Standard all-wheel drive and a Launch Control system enhanced its performance capabilities, while the Line Lock system allowed for tire-smoking fun. The Charger’s suspension and weight distribution contributed to its impressive handling and ride quality, with five drive modes offering a range of driving experiences.

The 2026 Audi A6 featured a turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, producing 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. This engine, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and standard quattro all-wheel drive, allowed the A6 to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds. The A6’s handling was enhanced by brake-based torque vectoring and an optional sport rear differential, which improved cornering performance. The Sport Plus package included a lower ride height and rear-axle steering for improved handling, though it compromised ride comfort. The A6’s steering system provided precision and stability, making it well-suited for highway driving, though it was less adept at handling tight, twisty roads.

Form and function

2026 Dodge Charger

8/10

The 2026 Dodge Charger’s large exterior translated to a spacious interior, accommodating four adults comfortably in both two- and four-door styles. The coupe’s long doors facilitated rear seat access, while the sedan offered more practicality for families. The Charger’s fastback design reduced rear headroom, but the interior felt airy thanks to an optional glass roof. The Charger’s cargo area, accessed via a large rear hatchback, offered 645 litres of space, expandable to 1,059 litres with the rear seats folded.

The 2026 Audi A6, despite being longer than its predecessor, did not offer increased passenger space. The panoramic glass roof added front-seat headroom, but rear seat dimensions remained similar. The A6 provided comparable space to a BMW 5 Series, with heated rear seats and climate controls for rear passengers. The trunk offered 382 litres of cargo space, more than a Cadillac CT5 or Mercedes-Benz E-Class, but less than a BMW 5 Series.

Technology

2026 Audi A6

6/10

2026 Dodge Charger

7/10

The 2026 Dodge Charger featured a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, with a larger 16-inch display available on Plus models. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5 software offered wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Performance Pages allowed drivers to track performance metrics, while haptic climate controls required some acclimation.

The 2026 Audi A6 introduced the Digital Stage setup, with an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.5-inch touchscreen. An optional 10.9-inch passenger touchscreen addressed the driver-oriented main screen. The MMI infotainment system was criticized for its oversimplified layout, though voice recognition and wireless smartphone integration were standard. An updated interface was expected mid-year, along with an optional Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Safety

2026 Dodge Charger

6/10

The 2026 Dodge Charger came equipped with Active Driving Assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and other standard safety features. The Scat Pack Plus package added a 360-degree camera for easier parking. The Charger’s Active Driving Assist performed well on highways, though crash-test ratings were not yet available.

The 2026 Audi A6 included adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and other driver-assist features. The lane centring feature allowed for some lane wandering, but robust driver monitoring helped prevent misuse. Crash-test ratings were unavailable at the time of writing, typical for a new model year.
