2025 Toyota Sienna Reviews Summary

In addition to promising 6.6–6.8 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, the 2025 Sienna distinguishes itself in several ways. It offers an available all-wheel-drive (AWD) system for extra traction. And while its maximum cargo capacity measurement falls short of rivals, you never need to remove the second-row seats to use it.

Verdict: Saving money on gas, making life simpler, and the option of AWD are all good things in a minivan. They make the Toyota Sienna worth considering if you’re also looking at cars such as the Chrysler Pacifica, Honda Odyssey, and Kia Carnival.

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Reviews Summary

This two-row midsize SUV is designed for travelling almost anywhere at almost any time. It shares its platform with the rugged Toyota 4Runner SUV and Tacoma pickup truck, and it’s equipped with a turbocharged hybrid powertrain better at supplying power than efficiency. The 2025 Land Cruiser is almost unchanged following its 2024 redesign, which saw its return to the Canadian market after a nearly 30-year hiatus.

Verdict: There is a lot to like about the Land Cruiser, especially if you don’t care about fuel economy. Our test vehicle averaged 15 litres per 100 kilometres, falling well short of expectations. Its thirst for fuel easily ranks as the worst thing about this SUV. Also, we recommend upgrading from the base 1958 trim level.

2025 Toyota Sienna

6/10

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

9/10

The 2025 Toyota Sienna retained its classic minivan silhouette, albeit with some modern touches. Its trapezoidal grille gave it a distinctive, albeit somewhat controversial, appearance reminiscent of a hand vacuum. The upswept body lines and hidden sliding door tracks added a touch of sophistication, while the narrow taillights drew a familial resemblance to the Camry sedan. Despite these efforts, the Sienna still looked unmistakably like a minivan, prioritizing practicality over style. The Limited trim with the Platinum package, painted in Magnetic Grey, topped the Canadian lineup, offering a range of trims from LE to XSE, with prices spanning from $51,219 to $73,753.

In contrast, the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser embraced a more rugged and utilitarian design. The base 1958 model paid homage to its heritage with retro styling, while the Cruiser trim offered a modern, upscale look. The Cruiser trim, priced at $82,030, featured larger screens, a nicer interior, and essential off-roading hardware. Our test vehicle, equipped with the Premium Package, showcased Heritage Blue paint, 20-inch wheels, and a roof rack, bringing the MSRP to $90,603. The Land Cruiser's traditional two-box SUV design maximized off-road capabilities and interior space, making it a practical choice for adventurers.

Performance

2025 Toyota Sienna

5/10

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

6/10

The 2025 Toyota Sienna was powered by a hybrid system combining a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It delivered a net horsepower of 245, which, while not particularly high, was sufficient for its purpose. The Sienna's hybrid powertrain prioritized fuel economy, achieving an official rating of 6.6 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving. However, during testing, it averaged 8.9 L/100 km. The Sienna offered predictable handling, though it wasn't particularly engaging to drive. The ride was smooth and absorbent, akin to a marshmallow on wheels, and it remained impressively quiet on the highway.

The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser featured Toyota's i-Force Max hybrid system, combining a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission and an electric motor. It produced 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, enabling a maximum towing capacity of 2,720 kilograms. The Land Cruiser excelled in off-road situations, thanks to features like Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control. However, its fuel economy fell short of expectations, averaging 15.0 L/100 km during testing. While it handled urban and suburban driving well, it struggled on twisty mountain roads due to its suspension tuning.

Form and function

2025 Toyota Sienna

5/10

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

6/10

The 2025 Toyota Sienna offered a spacious and practical interior, with power-adjustable and heated front seats. The Platinum package added ventilated leather seats, though the cushions felt hard on long drives. The second-row captain's chairs with ottoman-style leg rests were a hit with teenagers, and the third-row seat accommodated adults comfortably. The Sienna provided 949 litres of cargo space behind the third row, expanding to 2,129 litres with the seats stowed. However, its maximum cargo capacity of 2,860 litres was less than its rivals due to the lack of removable second-row seats.

The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser's interior featured SofTex artificial leather in the Cruiser trim, with real leather available in the Premium Package. The front seats were comfortable, but the second-row seats lacked thigh support and had an uncomfortable backrest angle. The Land Cruiser offered 1,062 litres of cargo space behind the rear seats, expanding to 2,324 litres with the seats folded. However, the high load floor height made loading heavy items challenging. The rear window design was less practical than expected, and the centre console's cool box seemed unnecessary.

Technology

2025 Toyota Sienna

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

The 2025 Toyota Sienna came equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen display for the Toyota Audio Multimedia (TAM) infotainment system. The Limited trim featured a four-zone automatic climate control system, a 10-inch head-up display (HUD), and a camera-based digital rearview mirror. The TAM system offered various connected services, including a digital assistant that responded accurately to voice commands. The Sienna Limited also included a 12-speaker JBL premium audio system, though the sound quality was somewhat muddy.

The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser's Cruiser trim upgraded to two 12.3-inch displays, offering a sophisticated appearance. The TAM infotainment system included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and access to Apple Music and Amazon Music accounts. The Premium Package added a 14-speaker JBL premium sound system, a wireless smartphone charger, a head-up display, and digital key technology. The Drive Connect plan provided a cloud-based navigation system and a conversational digital assistant, which performed well in voice recognition tests.

Safety

2025 Toyota Sienna

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

7/10

The 2025 Toyota Sienna featured Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 (TSS 2.0), which included forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, and adaptive cruise control. The Sienna also had blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. However, it received mixed crash-test ratings, with a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA but only three stars for driver protection in a frontal impact.

The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser came with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0), offering advanced safety features such as forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian, cyclist, and motorcyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist. The adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assist provided semi-autonomous highway driving capabilities. The Land Cruiser received a four-star overall rating from the NHTSA, with four stars in the frontal-impact test and five stars in side-impact testing.
