The 2022 Lincoln Nautilus was an attractive SUV with a balanced and characterful design. Its styling was neither awkward nor plain, and Lincoln added enough detailing to give the Nautilus a distinctive presence. Approaching the SUV after dark, drivers were greeted by a Lincoln Embrace lighting sequence, enhancing its luxurious feel. The interior featured premium leather upholstery in light grey, with other colour options available, creating a decadent atmosphere. However, some elements, like the centre console design and chrome-plated plastic pieces, appeared somewhat cheap. The Nautilus Reserve model was available in Canada for an MSRP of $59,800, excluding a $2,395 destination charge. Our test vehicle included optional Ultra Comfort 22-way power-adjustable front seats with Active Motion massage, which were ideal for long drives.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue, having undergone a redesign in 2021, continued to impress with its mature and sophisticated styling. It shared several exterior design features with other Nissan models, such as the V-motion grille and multi-level LED headlights. The Rogue's Zero Gravity bucket-style front seats were comfortable, and the second row provided good legroom for passengers.

The 2022 Lincoln Nautilus came standard with a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 250 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive in Canada. An optional twin-turbocharged 2.7-litre V6 engine delivered 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque for an additional $4,000. The Nautilus offered Comfort, Normal, and Sport driving modes, adjusting powertrain behaviour, steering effort, and adaptive suspension. The SUV's fuel consumption was rated at 11.2 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, with a maximum highway range of 730 kilometres. During a 1,400-kilometre drive, it averaged 9.4 L/100 km. The Nautilus excelled as a road-tripper, offering a quiet and comfortable ride with a 19-speaker Revel audio system. Despite its shared engineering with the Ford Edge, the Nautilus displayed unexpected grace and athleticism on mountain roads, though its steering lacked engagement.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue benefited from a new 1.5-litre VC-Turbo engine, producing 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque, a significant improvement over the previous model. The engine's variable compression technology allowed for efficient power delivery, enhancing the Rogue's performance. The SUV's fuel consumption was impressive, with estimates of 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres city/6.5 highway/7.2 combined. The Rogue's CVT transmission featured wider gear ratios, providing better acceleration and responsiveness. The chassis and suspension handled the engine's power well, delivering a smooth and controlled ride with minimal body roll. Both front seats were heated and ventilated, with a heated power tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel. The optional 22-way power front seats provided exceptional comfort with massage programs and adjustable features. Rear passengers enjoyed heated outboard seats and air conditioning vents, though legroom was tight for a midsize SUV. Storage space was adequate, with a hands-free power liftgate revealing 1,055 litres of cargo space, expandable to 1,948 litres with the rear seats folded.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue excelled in interior space and storage options. The front cabin featured numerous storage compartments, including bottle holders, cupholders, a glove compartment, and a centre console bin. Rear-seat passengers had storage options in the doors and seatbacks, along with USB-A and USB-C charge-only ports. The second-row seat was a 60/40 split reclining bench. The 2022 Lincoln Nautilus featured a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display and a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Sync 4 software. The intuitive user interface and natural voice recognition system enhanced the driving experience. The Phone as a Key feature allowed drivers to use their smartphone as a digital key.
