While its exterior was impressive, the interior fell short compared to competitors like Ram and Ford, particularly in material quality and spaciousness. The Sierra 2500HD offered five trim levels, each with unique features, from the basic Pro to the luxurious Denali. The AT4 trim, which we tested, was off-road-focused, featuring rugged design elements and a well-equipped interior with premium features like a Bose sound system and leather seats.

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss, with its factory suspension lift and rugged styling, was designed for off-road adventures. Its exterior was well-balanced and visually appealing, while the interior drew inspiration from the Camaro, featuring toggle switches and round air vents. However, the base Work Truck and Trail Boss trims had a less appealing grey front fascia and interior. The Trail Boss trim included options like a spray-on bedliner and advanced trailering package, bringing its MSRP to $50,844. Despite some interior shortcomings, the Colorado offered a comfortable ride and impressive off-road capabilities.

The 2022 GMC Sierra 2500HD featured a powerful 6.6-litre V8 engine, with the optional Duramax diesel delivering 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. It had a maximum payload capacity of 1,637 kg and could tow up to 8,391 kg. The Allison 10-speed automatic transmission provided smooth shifts, but the ride was jittery without a load. The AT4 trim excelled off-road with features like an automatic-locking rear differential and all-terrain tires, handling challenging terrain with ease.

The 2023 Chevrolet Colorado offered a turbocharged 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine, with the Trail Boss trim producing 310 horsepower and 391 lb-ft of torque. It featured an eight-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case for off-road capability. The Trail Boss had a 5-cm suspension lift and all-terrain tires, making it adept at handling rough terrain. Despite its off-road prowess, the Colorado Trail Boss delivered a quiet and comfortable ride on pavement, though its fuel economy was less impressive at 13.8 L/100 km.
