These cars were so reliable especially the 318 engine..but Im really into the larger engine more so with the 6pack...I will find a cuda or a challenger eventually...I have the money but just waiting on the right carJan 19, 2024

Love the look, rareity, and performance of this car. I am a first time mopar owner and so far it has been fun. I drove the car for about a month and now is getting disassembled in my garage for the restoration. Removed all interior to get a good look at the floor in which it was all solid. Just put down all of the sound deadner and waiting for carpet to come in the mail.

Performance - excellent acceleration, good brakes, positraction, 5 speed,
440 with a 6 pack
Build Quality - completely restored
Appearance - clean paint job, clean interior, smooth body lines
Cost of Ownership - 7-15mpg, minimum maintenance
Fun Factor - Amazing, you never want to get out.

hard to keep clean black on black,no a/c very hot in the summer to power steering but handles very good,could have done to chevys but did one dodge,not sorry about it.cant wait to take it out again ,gets evey bodys head turning Oct 09, 2011

this car is built for street or strip. the proformance is wonderful due to the 440 under the
hood backed up with a holly car. this car is nice
to drive in town , pretty cool when people break

My first car when I turned 16. Bought it in April of 1997 and still have it. Original numbers matching car with 35,000 miles. (32k when bought in 97') Only driven for fun a leisure, multiple national show winner and featured in several magazine articles over the years. Very rare, very flashy and very fast muscle car. it has a good 440 hemi in it tires are new and new rims the color is great gota love
plum crazy purple very nice detail in the paint and rag top new gas cap the engin

this has been my project for the last 10 years. I swapped in a mildly built 360, a 727 trans and an 8 3/4 rear with 3.91 gears. Goes fairly decent but would like to get it in the high 12s.

Needs a restoration. Don't ask! It is not for sale. I had a '70 back when it was new. Should not have gotten rid of it. Should have stored it and taken care of it. They are fun cars to drive and enjoy. Back seat area is for small people, it gets a little cramped for adults after awhile. It is AMERICAN made! Jul 04, 2009

My car has had a rough 35 year existence and still needs lots of work. If you look beyond the pretty paint, its actually not that pretty. It has more rust than I probably even know, everything except the radiator leaks, anything electrical is a disaster, and it basically was restored very badly. Having said that, it is still a challenger. It is very fast although considering what it is I wish it was faster (and it will be soon), it handles surprisingly well although the steering is a little vague, its good and loud, and its an American Icon. It gets looks everywhere I take it, and it scares all the little kiddies and thier riced-out imports.Mar 09, 2009

Low production numbers - 1 of 176 340 '71 Challenger Convertibles.
1 of 11 Convertibles built in '71 with Factory installed N96 Shaker Hood.
I restored the car from 1998 to 2000, was Mopar muscle feature car June 2000.
Curious Yellow, Urethane bumpers, Power top, Power Windows, Leather, 6-way Seat, F-60 Polyglas Tires.
Sold it in February 2006.

Just finished painting it, looks amazing for a very unprofessional job. Engine is working incredibly, but the tranny could use a bit of work. Love to drive it around town, but it would be nice ig it had a stereo in it or something along those lines. Also some headers and maybe a new carburetor. Oct 01, 2008

One of the most beautiful cars ever built, but unless you had a big block engine or a Hemi, it wasn't a really fast car. Suspension was stiff and the mileage was terrible. But this is a beautiful body, who wouldn't want it.May 29, 2008

Amazing Sound, dodge was known for the incredibly 'throaty' noise that their cars made.

only call the challenger "2nd" best because i over-restored a '68 hemi coronet and added a bunch of suspension upgrades to make it ride/drive better than stock. my 1971 challenger r/t was my first 'real car' back in the late 80s, it was a 383 car with a transplanted 440, the original 4-speed, 8.75" axle with 3.91 sure-grip, front and rear sway bars (part of the hemi suspension and cooling package) and was a very capable car around corners and it was my daily driver for several years when i didnt even own another vehicle....i still beat on it mercilessly. had to replace a few clutches and a timing chain...but otherwise it was a great car that stood up well to all the abuse a 21 year-old could throw at it. For the 23yrs I owned this car, I have driven it for 18yrs. The only time i have had to do repairs was for normal wear and tear. This car happens to be one of the most reliable cars I have ever owned. Never had a breakdown,Never left me stranded. I still own this Vehicle today. Biggest regret, Family size grew and I bought a van, left challenger sitting in yard for 5yrs(in NY). Now in need of body work.Sep 30, 2006
