How Mazda’s advanced i‑Activsense technology helps provide smart prevention
With Mazda safety technology, confident driving is joyful driving
Every drive asks something different from you. A busy intersection requires a different kind of awareness than a long stretch of highway. Backing out of a parking space presents different challenges than changing lanes in traffic. And sometimes, a hazard can appear with little time to react.
What is Mazda i‑Activsense?
Mazda i‑Activsense technology includes features designed to support you through these changing moments. An intelligent network of cameras, radars and sensors helps monitor your surroundings and provide assistance across a range of driving situations. By helping you stay more aware of what’s around your vehicle and recognize potential hazards ahead, i‑Activsense gives you added confidence on every drive.
How can i‑Activsense help when visibility is limited?
Even for the most attentive drivers, blind spots and restricted views are an unavoidable reality on the road. When a quick glance in the mirror isn't enough to reveal what's happening around you, i‑Activsense provides an intelligent layer of extra awareness, giving you added confidence in situations where visibility is limited.
For instance, the Blind Spot Monitoring system automatically warns you when another vehicle moves into an area you may not be able to see. This can be useful when changing lanes, helping bring your attention to a vehicle that may be outside your direct field of view.
At slower speeds, Rear Cross Traffic Alert helps detect vehicles approaching from either side when you’re reversing out of parking spaces or driveways. Whether you’re navigating a busy shopping centre parking lot or backing out from between two large SUVs, the system can provide warnings when approaching traffic is difficult to spot.
Recognizing potential hazards early
Preventing a collision can start with recognizing a potential hazard early. Distance & Speed Alert notifies you when the distance between your vehicle and a vehicle ahead becomes too short. By drawing your attention to developing hazards sooner, the system can help give you critical extra seconds to take evasive action and brake smoothly.
But not every hazard gives you time to react. A vehicle ahead may stop abruptly, or an unseen obstacle might suddenly block your lane. In these high-pressure moments, Smart Brake Support provides essential automated assistance. Designed to detect a potential front-end collision, the system can automatically apply the brakes if an impact appears imminent. This added protection could help mitigate the severity of a potential collision or potentially avoid one altogether.
How can i‑Activsense support everyday driving?
Safety technology shouldn’t only be there for the unexpected. It can also make everyday driving feel more intuitive and less demanding. By supporting you through familiar driving situations, i‑Activsense can help you stay focused on the road while making the drive feel more natural.
On long highway drives, Lane Departure Warning monitors road markings to alert you if your Mazda begins to drift unintentionally from its lane.
Above approximately 65 km/h, Driver Attention Alert provides a screen display and warning sounds when the system detects driver fatigue or decreased attentiveness. It does this based on information from the forward sensing camera and steering wheel torque.
Working alongside it, Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go* automatically adjusts your cruising speed to maintain a safe following distance as traffic slows or accelerates.
For nighttime driving, High Beam Control automatically switches between low beams and high beams under certain conditions above approximately 30 km/h, to give you a clearer view of the road ahead.
i‑Activsense safety features from day one
Smart prevention starts with making advanced safety technology accessible from the moment you get behind the wheel. That’s why every driver gains access to i‑Activsense safety features from day one. With i‑Activsense helping you stay aware, you can feel confident behind the wheel and focus on the joy of driving.
